“Cute charming cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

It took us a while before we found this cafe but once we've discovered it was just in front of the cathedral and 20 mins away from our hotel, we made it a point to come back.

It's a very cozy cafe, a place where you can actually lounge around all day- because of the cute, charming and laid back ambiance. Food is good and a bit high in price. (We were traveling on a budget, always eating at the sidewalks thus making our visit at Marilyn's a real treat.) What I really enjoyed at the cafe was their fried (crab/seafood?) spring rolls and their yogurt coffee. We made sure to come back knowing that they accepted credit cards and they had free wifi.

After a long walk around Hanoi, shopping and eating in their sidewalks, go to Marilyn's to kick back and relax.

“Lovely restaurant with great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012 via mobile

Throuhg a shop to 2nd floor to the restaurant with a view to a cathedral! Food was extremely good and cheap!
Romantic spot for couples sitting outside and great place for business inside

“Great ambiance, service difficult.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Food bland, hanoibut grilled fish and pepper steak for main, after asking for extra spicy given a watered down version of sweet chili sauce. Beer was not hot. Main arrived 5sec after entree. Overall an interesting experience with proximity to cathedral and clock work amazing. Really a French notre dam feeling. Walking through dress shop to get to restaurant its interesting and god gimmick. Maybe need to focus on the French ambience and play some French Vietnamese music and improve English serving waitress with appreciation of hot n chilly food.

“Serves ROTTEN wine& Poor Services”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

The wine I ordered came out smelling like rotten soya sauce. I asked to change for a new one, the waiter said he can't offer any wine because he put that glass of wine back to the bottle for next customer. When I came down to pay, there was the owner of this restaurant. I explained to her and the waiter came out to say that the bar man didn't want to open the bottle, the bar man complained that the waiter didn’t tell him about it. The whole staff lies! What a poor service, a disaster!

“Nice balcony”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Situated in Au Trieu, within spitting distance from the St Joseph’s Cathedral at Nha Tho, this café is comfortably furnished, with sofas and proper dining tables and chairs, not those small kiddie types. The dining room on the first floor was cosy, and the stairway leading there was bright, clean, safe, and wide enough. There aren’t too many cafes’ that took the trouble to construct these kind of stairs, I’m very impressed.

The highlight of the café is the balcony area; shaded by a large tree, and which looks out to the cathedral grounds and the traffic at that busy intersection. I would be hard-pressed not to visit again, if not just to sit out at the balcony.

The food; I ordered the Pork chop that cost 149,000 and a mixed juice 60,000. Great service from the friendly & smiling staff. Speaks English well.
The food presentation was lovely, for the price, had the pork been less dry, this trip would have been a great dining experience.

but still, come by and sit out at the balcony, you won't regret it!
