Great location, charming exterior in a bustling part of Hanoi but it is the staff that steel the show. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave the staff make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Helpful in everyway, including excursions and onward journeys. I stayed here twice and i would again if i am ever in that neck of tthe woods

We stayed at the Meracus in May. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Rooms very clean with free computer to use as well. Buffet breakfast was great anything you wanted. Easy walking distance to lake and the water puppet shows.

However their airport transfers left a bit desired their own car was not available and the car they sent for four people plus luggage was far too small but we were squeezed in anyway. They did apologise on arrival at hotel and assured us the return trip would be fine it wasn't. Car not available again but ka relevant sized taxi was called for us but it was late and not very clean.

Being a frequent traveler, I have stayed in many hotels around the world. The staff at Meracus Hotel I must commend is by far superior to any of the hotels I have had the privilege to stay in including some five star hotel chains.

The first thing that caught my attention here was that the staff here was extremely polite and attentive to our needs. From the moment my family of four stepped into the hotel on 5 June 2013 we were warmly welcomed until the day we checked out on 11 June 2013.

Upon our arrival, the front desk staff took the trouble to walk us through a Hanoi map containing the places of interest, shopping areas and places to eat, on top of the standard briefing of the hotel amenities, before personally showing us to our room. But what really sets them apart is that they also took the effort to brief us on safety tips to ensure our visit was incident free eg. what are the reliable cab companies, how to cross the busy roads, how to get away from pushy vendors etc. The next few days were no different. They were always there opening the doors for our entrance or exit while politely greeting us. And they were always one step ahead of us anticipating our needs and checking whether we have had our breakfast or whether we had needed a cab. When I had needed a print out of one of my emails, it was executed without any fuss and free of any charges. The Food & Beverage staff was equally impressive, constantly attending to us during breakfast either to get our drinks or to fill our plates with food.

Aside from the excellent service, other plus points for this hotel include:

1. It is centrally located in the Old Quarters area of Hanoi, a short walk away from the Hoan Kiem Lake.
2. One laptop is provided in each guest room with free WiFi connection.
3. The Family Room is sufficiently large with one Queen size bed and one Super Single bed with a daily fruit platter thrown in.
4. Breakfast was excellent. The variety was sufficient and the menu changed daily.

A small area for improvement would be for the hotel to look into improving the WiFi signal strength in the rooms. We were put in two different family rooms on two different floors during our stay but each time we encountered signal strengths that were inconsistent to the point of our internet connection getting cut-off now and then which can be bothersome.

Aside from the minor inconvenience (of the internet commenction) we would not hessitate to share this hotel with our family and friends in the wish that they will have a memorable vacation in Hanoi, just like we did.

Room Tip: Their family rooms can easily accommodate a family of four with two small children.

Just stayed 4 nights at the Meracus a wonderful small hotel right in the heart of the old quarter, on arrival we were given a choice of two rooms one with a balcony and one without we chose the one on the top floor the room was small but it had a lovely spacious balcony. All of the staff were very
helpful and always happy in their work nothing was too much trouble especially at breakfast, which was delicious. It would have been nice to have had a lounge or somewhere to chill at the end of the evening there is a room at the back of the hotel but it is very formal with no windows. In comparison to the other hotels we stayed in throughout Vietnam the Meracus was a little expensive for the amenities provided we paid £42 a night, for similar price we had a bar and a pool in HCMC, Hoi An and Hue. I suggest you contact the hotel for best deal.

In all the years I've been traveling, I have to rate this place #1 for cleanness, hospitality and service. The staff is by far superior than any five star hotels I've stayed at. Expect quality service from them.

I stayed there in may 25-30,2013. I was welcomed once I walked through the door. From then on, the staff would always open the door for my entrance and exit. The staffs always gives excellent recommendations on foods, trip planning and services that I need to look for (camera repair $15 vs $150 in Canada for dropped camera). The atmosphere in the lounge and small restaurant where they provide breakfast was excellent as well. I highly recommend going for their pho noodles and ice coffee. I will be back to this place when I visit hanoi again

Dear our valued guest,

We cannot say enough to express our acknowledgement to you for this enormously supportive feedback. Thanks to yours, we get motivated to strive so much more that we deserve what you have said about us.

Our hotel is actually a boutique one in the busy Old Quarter of Hanoi, thus, it has a range of disadvantages to compare with five-star hotels or so. However, we have our own way to make a unique character for the establishment, which would definitely bring our guests true comfort and genuine service quality, and we feel so pleased as your satisfaction has been fulfilled during the time you stayed with us.

Sincerely, all staff of Meracus Hotel was concerned of how you feel and what we should do to make your vacation remarkably enjoyable, and as a result, every single detail needed to be well done as much as possible. And cheerfully, our efforts have been recognized by you as accomplishments of the guaranteed cleanliness, excellent food & beverage quality, superior services and trustworthy staff’s working manner.

Many thanks for your incredible compliments and they highly contribute to Meracus Hotel’s prestige and the whole staff’s spirit in general. And we promise to keep doing the jobs with sincere love and responsibilities.

Best wishes to you for great life, and we always welcome you back as honored guest at anytime you return to the city of Hanoi.

Your in service,

General Manager

Our only regret at this hotel was that we were unable to spend more than a night! The location was fabulous, just minutes from the central shopping and entertainment area. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly, and went out of the way to make our stay enjoyable. From the brief welcome speech and drink, to nicely made rooms with a detailed local map and weather forecasts, it was obvious that the hotel cared about our stay. They even held our luggage safely overnight while we went on a Halong Bay tour. We would definitely stay again, and recommend this hotel to everyone.

We arrived around 10AM and we could directly check-in. There was a little disturbing problem by check-in because we've reserved a deluxe room on the street side and the woman who did the check-in said that we reserved a family room (on the back side). After visiting the family room which we didn't like (quiet but dark), we could have our deluxe room. It was really like on the picture, very nice decorated, with a big window and a lot of sun. The bathroom was also very nice with all the amenities you need (toothbrush, soaps, ...). The breakfast is marvellous, like described in Tripadvisor with a fantastic service. The only thing which was less nice was that the breakfast room is under the ground with no natural lights so it 's not the place you can spend really long time.
Another less nice point is that the rooms are cleaned daily but in the afternoon, so when you come back around 2pm to rest a bit, your bed is not cleaned.
We were at room 501 and we had a computer but the wifi was not working, so we had to go downstair to check our mail on the iPad of the reception. No big point for us.
The staff was really friendly, the location was very good, the room was very nice (very little but nice), the breakfast fantastic, we will come back if we travel again to Hanoi.

Room Tip: We were really glad with room 501, not so noisy as we read in the reviews. But if you like it quiet...
