“Genuine Vietnamese food at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

I have been going many times to this unique restaurant and I have never been disappointed. Genuine Vietnamese food, but original and unusual menu, clean, in a lovely setting next to West Lake. Food is excellent, so is the atmosphere. Prices reasonable. The lady who runs the restaurant, Ms. Dieu, makes you feel a welcome guest. Highly recommended.

“Good vegetarian and vegan options”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

Great place, they happily made vegan versions of several of the dishes for my husband and I. We sat right by the lake and it was quite hot under the lights. Friendly and helpful staff

“Fabulous experience”

Great cheap fresh food sitting at the side of the lake - what more can you ask for! Staff were fabulous, service quick. Definitely go back. Great for couples, families, friends, business or solo.

“Well worth patronising”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Delightful spot with friendly service and delicious food. Obviously still on its way up and a good time to catch it. Very enthusiastic owners and staff: the chef is really delighted with personal comments passed. Good English spoken. Two caveats: first, the street address is correct but misleading - the restaurant is actually on the small street below at the foot of the building; second, if you dine inside it's up a tight spiral staircase and into a "no shoes" room where the chair seats are at floor level (i.e. no legs) - easier, perhaps, for the more flexible! The area next to the lake has "proper" chairs. The chicken breast "enbalmed" (!) with oyster sauce was a particular winner: tofu with aubergine and garlic a lovely surprise. Decent if unpretentious wines. All at very friendly prices. They were delighted to be told we'd heard about it on Tripadvisor.

“Great, reasonable & healthy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013 via mobile

I really love this place and it would have had 5 stars if it weren't for the fact that more recently they seem to be adding too much salt to some dishes. Tried a lot of the menu and enjoyed all of it. The outside dining is so lovely when the weather is nice as it's right in the lake. Delivery is prompt and we've never had a problem. If you want to eat out but it's cold, you can sit in the bar next door (The Red River Tavern), have a drink and order from Dieu's. The snakehead fish is well worth a try but specify you don't want too much salt.
