“Value for money in old quarter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Our family of 4 stayed in this 3 star hotel that had 5 star service. Prior to our stay, Jenny patiently answered all my emails and arranged our tours of Hanoi and Halong Bay in a very timely manner. Arriving in the Hanoi old quarter can be daunting for many westerners but we felt safe having been picked up from the airport (on New Year's when the traffic is even more chaotic) and warmly greeted by the very accomodating staff who speak good english. Our rooms were clean and not particularly noisy. The bathroom facilities functioned well. Where the staff went beyond expectations was when we were given extra breakfast (because they thought we waited to long to be served - which we didn't!) and when Jenny miraculously was able to acquire 4 water puppet tickets when they were sold out due to New Year's day. Lovely people, wonderful service and we never saw an insect of any description during breakfast! Oh - and the Pineapple restaurant recommendation was good too! A place to book with confidence.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Have never received such an amazing welcome at a hotel. Staff had exceptional customer service and made stay feel very personal. Room was great, small but had everything you need, including desktop computer. Great bathroom with large bathtub. Breakfast was brilliant, you can order anything from their menu and they encourage you to have as much as you can manage! Would definitely recommend!

I booked this hotel based on the trip advisor reviews and boy it did not disappoint! For a budget hotel in the bustling old quarter Hanoi (25-30$/night), I could not have encountered service any better than this! We were picked up at the airport by our driver who patiently waited for us despite us being an hour and a half late. We were then greeted by first name the second we walked into the doors of the hotel, they handed us fresh towels and orange juice while they gathered our information for our check-in. They made pleasant conversation, and seemed genuinely interested in interacting with us (a rarity). They even helped us bring our backpacks up to our room much to our protest, they insisted and never asked anything in return. From our conversation, they learned that we needed to take a train to Dong Hoi from Hanoi in two days and happily helped us book our tickets. They advised us that there was a minor commission fee which I accepted (and it WAS minimal, I checked).

We were only there for one night, but they happily kept our bigger backpacks overnight when we left the next morning for an overnight cruise of Halong Bay. When we returned from our cruise and came to collect our baggage, they still remembered us by our first names and knew that we had a train only later that night. They quickly offered us one of their rooms so that we can take a shower and clean up before our long overnight journey to Dong Hoi.... The receptionist jokingly told us that the fee was to have to clean the room after we were done, which I was ready to accept, but she was just joking and assured me that it was entirely free of charge! When we were ready to leave for our train, they arranged us a taxi which they paid for (something they do for you when you book train tickets with them) and even sent one of their staff with us in the taxi to help us find our way across the tracks at the station. He helped us bring our bags even onto the train and lead us to our berth.

Honestly, I have NEVER encountered such kind, genuine, sincere and honest people during my travels. The type of service offered here goes above and beyond what any snooty five star hotel would do for you. Nancy and De, you made our short trip to Hanoi VERY memorable. I hope the values and service you offer to your guests continues as long as the hotel is open, it definitely is rarity in today's hotel industry.

Notes about the hotel itself:
-very clean rooms (charming roses and petals decorate your bedspread and bathroom)
-comfortable beds
-simple and functioning bathrooms with tons of little amenities
-fabulous a la carte breakfast included in your room rate
-free fruit brought to your room in the late afternoon
-free wifi connection and every room has its own computer in it

We had a really good time there. The team is really nice and always ready to help.
The location is really convenient in the old Hanoi. Our stay was perfect.,near the night market and the typical old street of Hanoi. My children loved the staff, and also the candies in the lobby !!!
Thank you holiday diamond, continue your good work.

My brother and I stayed in this hotel from January 16-20, 2013. The first thing I noticed was that the staff was so accommodating. Even when I was still booking our room, Jenny and Cherry were very patient in answering all my questions. Upon arrival at the hotel, the hotel and the staff did not disappoint us. We were treated like long-lost friends, honestly. They assisted us every way they could. I will not fail to mention the ala carte breakfast. Though ala carte, we could practically order everything on the menu. We even asked for second helpings on their fabulous croissants :). Overall, I would say that our stay in this hotel was an awesome experience. We would definitely book in this hotel again next year.

Located in the old quarter of Hanoi: a maze of noisy streets, crowded of motorbikes / minishops. The personnel is veeeery gentle (nearly embarrassing). The room was basic (on the website, they look better than they are) but clean, with a PC, unfortunately with internal window on the corridor (but this seems to be usual in Hanoi). Every night there was a vibration coming from the disco in the adiacent building, but it stopped at midnight. The breakfast was good, BUT there were beetles around in the breakfast room (on the wall, on the floor… we saw them every morning in 5 days… the personnel seemed not even notice it!)

I came here for 3 nights with a group of 8 friends, the hotel staff were amazing and helped us with everything we wanted. The breakfasts were so good, the rooms were clean and had big beds. The price was very low for the quality of the hotel. I will be coming back here when i next return to Hanoi!
