“Friendly atmosphere, but why seek this out in Hanoi?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

This is an ok place to eat Western-style food. But why would go you out of your way to find this place when you are in Hanoi, surrounded by hundreds of Vietnamese restaurants? We went here after finding next to no vegetarian fare on the menu after hiking to nearby Quan An Ngon (which was filled with tourists when we stopped by). The food was pretty good and the staff friendly. My daughter loved her cherry tomato pasta after not having pasta in weeks of traveling. On the other hand, the mealy veggie burger disintegrated as my husband ate it and came with about 7 puny fries. Pretty pricey option in Hanoi (about VND 150,000 per person) for what passes as average cafe food in the US.

“Good Vegetarian/Vegan food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

We were hunting for some good vegetarian food in Hanoi and the Hanoi social club did not disappoint us. The drinks were well priced and good. Definitely try the lemon and mint slushy( ask them to add some sugarcane juice if you like them sweet).
We had the lentil pasta and Veg roti wrap for lunch. The portion sizes were huge and they were delicious. It was a nice break from eating noodles and fried rice for a while :).
The restaurant is on a small side street and is a 1920s French colonial villa. We really enjoyed spending a couple of hours here. They also have a roof top garden bar and different rooms that groups can enjoy. They have a bunch of magazines and books to read and also had a few games.
The hosts were very nice, friendly and spoke very good english.

“Cool little place tucked away!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

This little place is tucked amongst some little Vietnamese boutiques, and would be very easy to miss if you didn't know where you were going!
Great atmosphere... Feels like a little old house!
Menu had a wide selection of western style items and good prices.
I had the veggie roti wrap and it was stuffed full of goodies. The beetroot and choc cake at the end was also delicious.
Service was good at the start- we had an attentive waitress, and then when it came time to clear our plates away and get a dessert menu we had to wait a good 15 mins and then ask.
Beyond that little blip, I would definitely go back and try out the breakkie offerings!

“Great place to chill, get away from the beep beep”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Located down a side street, Hanoi Social Club is a nice quiet place to get out of the hustle and bustle of Hanoi.

The place has pretty much everything you need when on a trip: great food (the french fries were the best that we'd had in our trip!), good coffee, board games, great atmosphere, great music, friendly staff, free wifi, and second hand books for sale.

Great place to waste a couple of hours.

“Don't believe everything you read”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

Food was good, however don't believe the sign at the counter.. "any item missing from the receipt and your meal is free ". Half our bill was missing, but it didnt matter. We got a coffee and cake special for 100k but asked for an mocha instead.. Which was all fine but when we went to pay we were charged separately. Food delivered but it was downhill from there. Don't put signs up if they don't mean anything.
