“Great hotel / hostel in hanoi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012 via mobile

We stayed in one of their double room for three nights in total and found them perfectly clean and more than comfortable enough for us. The owners are very jovial, offer free hot drinks and free food 24 hours a day, plus free hot breakfast, free wifi and also booked us a taxi for the airport; all very cool people. It is true that upon checkout, they get a little pushy for a review but given that this probably is the key for survival for this hostel (which is situated in a side alley) and the fact that we really enjoyed our stay we found that ok. Five stars because they let us leave our luggage at the reception free of charge before we even said that we wanted to stay with them.

we stayed for 3 nights in this hotel near by the Hoam Kiem lake and the old quarter. the price is fair for what they offer.
they offer a good quality of services and the receptionists are kind, they provide all the information you need, but when you talk about tours, train tickets, other hotels you are looking for, instead of offering their help they push a lot for their solutions. in the end if you follow their suggestions you will pay more than the fair price.
we had some problems with the night train to Lao Cai (Sapa),especially on the way back, so is better do it by yourself at the train station!!
they also push you to make a good review and in case you are not able to do it by yourself they can do it for you!!!

Little Hanoi Hostel is a great place to stay. We stayed two nights but would have stayed a third if we had to. The location is great, and the staff is very friendly. They made us a free dinner, which was really delicious. Above-average showers.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the lower floors because there is no elevator

Arrived at the hostel to receive the best welcome from Chin - smiles, hugs and beers.
He was incredibly helpful and helped us to organise a trip to Halong Bay with Fantasea tours for 3 days, 2 nights.
The rooms at the hostel are very good. The mattress could be softer, but the TV has a lot of choice of channels, very clean bathroom and hot shower and good wifi connection.
We had time for a quick breakfast at the hostel (pretty basic stuff) before getting on a bus to Halong Bay.
The 'junk boat' we stayed on was excellent, very helpful staff, a nice cabin room and a good lunch and dinner was served. The tour also included a trip to 'suprise cave' and then kayaking.
Day 2 was the only 'bad' part of the trip as we had to rise very early for a poor breakfast of dry, cold toast and fried eggs before arriving at Cat Ba harbour. From here we were told we would be going for a walk before checking into our hotel on Cat Ba. In fact, we took a 2 hour hike up to a viewpoint in the National Park which no one was prepared for, was very very hard going at times and involved multiple steep inclines and accensions up quite dangerous ladders. It was really really exhausting and I wish we could have had the option to do something else instead.
The meals at the hotel on Cat Ba island (Fantasea hotel) were also pretty bad.
The hotel itself was fine, good clean rooms with TV and fridge.
We left next day, had another meal on a boat (again good) before being driven back to Hanoi by bus.
Again, when we returned Chin gave us the best welcome ever. Really glad to be back in Hanoi so we can get some decent food for dinner.
All in all, I would recommend the Little Hanoi hostel to anyone and even recommend the tour - just don't do the trek!

It would be difficult to exaggerate just how good the LHH2 is. Chin, the manager is excellent fellow who works tirelessly to provide the best possible service. This enthusiasm is reflected in the rest of the staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful.

The name is misleading, by the way. This is no hostel, it's more like a little family run hotel - well, it has that feel. The rooms are immaculately clean. Good furniture. Comfy beds with memory foam mattresses. Fridges and free wifi.

In the lobby there are free computers for internet access. Tea, coffee and fresh fruit are always available. There is a decent complimentry breakfast.

The hotel is perfectly situated. Right opposite the lake, just a few minutes from the bustling Old Quarter streets.

I have no hesitation in recommending the LHH2. If you are on a tight backpacker's budget this would be well worth the splurge.

Stumbled across this hotel accidently while walking past would personally recommend staying here, right across the road from the lake! very central .. only 5 minutes away from the Centre Square of the old City (St Josephs Cathederal) The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, will go out of there way to aou ssist you and even pull strings to get things done for you ..
Had a extenstion on my room checkout due to my late flight .. looking for a reason to be good to you .. Free coffee, Tea and food at any time of the day .. The rooms are beautiful around $25 a night overall beautiful expierence would recommend to anyone that's wants a bit of a nicer room that is central

Room Tip: He will give you the best one if it's available
