“As always, a fantastic stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

If you can afford the price, I am recommending that you stay here. The staff are friendly and accommodating .Check in was quick and easy and we were in our room within five minutes of stepping out of the taxi. The room is a good size and very comfortable. The AC, shower, and bed all meet the high standards for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The hotel stored our luggage free of charge while we were away on our boat trip in Halong bay. The hotel food menu has both Vietnamese and Western style dishes. The location is great - we walked around a lot. I really have nothing negative to say. You will be very happy with this hotel. Can't go wrong.

Room Tip: Family Suite with bath tub

We booked this hotel from Sydney for our first few nights in Vietnam and were very happy with the rooms, staff, breakfast and excellent value for money. It was a 10 minute stroll to the lake and the center of the old quarter. Lots of local food nearby.

We will stay here again without any hesitation

We stayed at the Hanoi Grand Hotel in September. We booked two double rooms, one for us and one for our two children (14,8). The rooms were clean and everything we needed! It was such a fantastic way to begin our family trip in Vietnam.

The service was awesome!! I can't speak highly enough of the staff. Even before we arrived, we were emailing. Always had a prompt reply from them, we were so impressed that we had them arrange our Halong Bay boat trip. We were quite specific in the boat and type of experience we wanted and they organised it perfectly!

On our last morning we needed to be at the airport at 5am. The staff were up and even cooked us breakfast well before the usual breakfast serving time.

Overall we were so happy with this hotel, would stay there again and would definitely recommend it to others!!

Firstly, Dianne and I would like to share our gratitude to Mr Hoa, Ms Chinh and Madam Hien for their professional and personal services to our needs during our stay at HGH. They were exceptionally friendly as were all other staff including domestics. Nothing was any trouble for them and if there were any doubts as to our needs they volunteered further services or information, particularly in respect to city locations, tours and other items of interest. The breakfasts are a delight and you would have to be hard to please if you found them wanting, all breakfast meals are cooked for you and range from cereals to soups, baguettes, continental and american breakfasts with fruit, juice and coffee being automatically placed before you, lovely. Our room was a junior suite in one of the upper floors, very clean, roomy, with all amenities working, a great air con, good wifi and excellent range of TV channels (even able to watch the Aust Elections Count (smile). All in all our six night stay at the HGH was very pleasant and although we will not be visiting Hanoi again, we recommend HGH to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay in the old quarter of Hanoi. Once again thanks to Hao, Chinh and Hien for their warm, personal and professional care. Good luck Guys and God Bless. Regards, Mike and Dianne, Brisbane, Australia.

Room Tip: We recommend HGH to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay in the old quarter of Hanoi.

I and my wife both strongly recommend the HGH. It might not be so "Grand", but it is a cozy gem in the heart of the old quarter. The hotel is especially good for longer term stays as some of the rooms are more like apartment rooms with separate kitchens and balconies. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. We don't want to make too strong a recommendation because the hotel might not have any rooms left when we want to stay!

The Hanoi Grand Hotel, is very well located! Right so close to the Old Quarter (2 minutes walk) and so close to the lake as well. It's clean, the room was so big. The breakfast is good. It's a good choice because it's not expansive

Here are just a few of our complaints:

- we were given blood stained towels
- we were told by other guests not to do our laundry with the hotel as their clothing garments had gone missing
- we had incredibly rude reception staff
- the breakfast staff contiunally forgot our orders and we ended up hungry each morning
- our bathroom leaked
- our air conditioning dripped

There are many more complaints that we have, but overall this was a terrible start to our trip in Hanoi and the three nights here were absolutely miserable. I would advise anyone against staying here.
