I loved this place so much the first time that I decided to stay here again.
The hotel is bigger this time - they are expanding the place, and for the one night I went up there, the rooftop bar has gorgeous views. Yet it feels small and intimate, with the friendly staff, the same great service, and that friendly feeling. I had some free time in this trip and was looking for places to explore, not just the touristy places, but also the local joints, so I went to ask the staff for pointers. The manager, Aston, was there and he gave me lots of tips. He really knows his city well. For example, thanks to his suggestion, I had a $.50 ice cream at a very crowded local place just steps from the Sword Lake. The ice cream was OK, but rubbing elbow with the locals was a highlight of my experience (next time I'll ask Aston what to order as well). Apparently that ice cream place has been there forever- like, since the '80s. It's a food icon! Major travel points!
This is why I love coming here- the hotel is great, clean rooms, central locations etc. but most importantly they share their love for the city with me and make me feel welcomed. You can't top that!
