“Friendly, clean and with wireless”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2011

The Hanoi Elite Hotel is a reasonably-priced hotel that's located in quite a central area in Hanoi. The view out of the window is nothing great (ours was a backyard with clothes on a line!) but the service and quality of room is top-notch.

For those who need it, there's free WiFi on every floor and even an IBM ThinkPad notebook for you to use if you don't have your own. That's a first for me!

The staff are very friendly and will help you book tours or get a taxi for a reasonable price. Definitely enjoyed my stay here and will not hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to Hanoi.

i was a bit concerned about booking on a whim, but went for it and the experience was absolutely fabulous! tucked away on a little quiet street before the madness of the heart of tourist mecca in Hanoi, the hotel is clean, rooms amazing, newly renovated, and the staff, wow, well incredibly service oriented. Just great. stay here and you won't be disappointed.

we booked this hotel based on the tripadvisor reviews and weren't dissapointed. The hotel is brand new and finished to a very high standard (the best we encountered in Vietnam) with modern fixtures & fittings, esp very nice bathrooms. There is also a laptop in the room with free good wifi on each floor as well as flatscreen & cable tv. We were staying in higher floors and had the best sleeping experience in Vietnam (you'll know what I mean when you get there - bikes beep their horns from 5am in the morning) as the hotel is on a quiet alley in the old quarter.

The staff are clearly well trained and sprang into action everytime we appeared in the lobby area. We also rated the breakfasts very highly which are cooked in the little kitchen off the lobby. They provided a birthday cake & card in our room on my birthday which I thought was a nice touch.

We also booked cabs through the hotel for a pick up late night at Hanoi airport (taxis have a bad (undeserved?) reputation at the airport) which meant we were able to bypass the scrum of drivers/travellers when we arrived We paid 20US for a 4 person car with lots of luggage and 16US for a two person car on the way back which i thought was ok based on the research I did.

The only things I would flag about the hotel are that it only has 12 rooms over 6 floors so book up early; and secondly as with many hotels we encoountered in Vietnam/Cambodia, there is no lift so if you have an aversion to stairs, I would request a lower floor room as walking up the stairs to the higher floors will keep you fit!

Once you find this hidden gem, you are on the road to a wonderful experience. All staff are warm and personable. Rooms are very current in decor and spotless. A la carte breakfast is lovely. We stayed here largely based on a high trip advisor rating - this rating is well deserved. Customer service was surpassed by no other hotel on our trip (we stayed at 6 hotels in total). I was part of a group of 4, there was no doubt among the group that this was a high point of the trip.

I stayed at the Hanoi Elite in January 2011 as part of a longer trip around asia and in all, this was probably the all round winner of the many hotels and guest houses I stayed at over a 5 week period taking in 4 countries and about 9 cities and places stayed.

From the moment we walked into the reception we were greeted with the biggest smiles from all staff and we were soon helped to our room on the top floor. There isn't a lift here which would be the only downside if you have trouble with mobility but the porters and staff are more than helpful in carrying your bags up and down the stairs.

The rooms are exceptionally clean and modern feeling with DVD player, plasma TV's and laptop with free Wi-fi. If anything its too tempting to stay in the big cosy beds when there is a stunning and exciting city waiting for you outside.

Breakfast below me away. There was a list of 10 items on the menu which all seemed like a breakfast in itself so I figured I would just ask for number 3, the omolette. But then I was asked, what else.... huh? Pancakes with syrup, fresh fruit, croissants, toast... it just kept coming. I was on holiday, if you can't over-indulge then, when can you?

Breakfast can be a tight squeeze with the other guests but this really should be seen as a benefit, particularly if you are a solo traveller or in a small group / pair as you'll naturally get chatting with other guests which is a natural reaction to the friendly atmosphere you are in at the Hanoi Elite. I'm sure I'll see you again. Thanks for a great stay.

Stayed here en route to Halong Bay and tried unsucessfully to book a further few days on our return.Fabulous room with every conceivable facility for guests. Very fast turnaround on laundry. Helpful and attentive staff. A clean bright and affordable hotel in the centre of Hanoi.

This hotel is superb and highly recommended. The staff go out of their way to help and they greatly added to a most enjoyable stay in Hanoi. In terms of value for money I would rate it as the best hotel I've ever stayed in anywhere and it thoroughly deserves its place at the top of reviews on this website. I work as an International tour guide and spend most of my time staying in hotels and so have a very good idea of what is good value and what is not. Outstanding place
