Owner description: Hanoikids is a volunteer tour guide club of young, friendly and ambitious students who love Hanoi and want to bring local breath to tourists from all over the world. More than all, we are desperate to become little ambassadors of Vietnam.

“Like having friends to show you around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012

This is the BEST way to see Hanoi, especially if you are new to Vietnam. The city of Hanoi is so chaotic, it's so nice to have locals who speak English help you acclimate. i.e. How to cross the street, how to get the right taxi, where to eat, and HOW to eat the food you get.

They say the university students give you a tour in exchange for a chance to practice their English, but the two girls we had spoke excellent English already. So the benefit was all ours. I cannot recommend HanoiKids highly enough. Not just for a tour around the city, but it was very insightful to talk to the young minds of Vietnam, about their family values, their aspiration, and their thoughts on the war and international relations. What other tour lets you do that?

“The perfect tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

Just returned from a great all-day tour with Moi and Hian. Moi was more the veteran and Hian was a little newer to Hanoikids but both of them were bursting with enthusiasm about Vietnam, their guiding job as well as with curiosity about India. I would honestly say this was a cultural exchange and not just a day tour.

Hanoikids is a must for anyone travelling to Hanoi.

“Best way to see Hanoi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2012

There is no better way to see Hanoi. We got two girls, Lily and Tu who were extremely enthusiastic and nice. They had knowledge of Hanoi and were eager to share everything they knew about their city.

Besides showing us St. John's Cathedral, The Temple of Learning and the Hanoi Hilton, they took my wife and I to a coffee shop I never would've found unless a local showed us.

This coffee shop specialized in mixing whipped egg with their coffee. The entrance, from the street, looked like a dark alley and a visitor would never know that through that alley was a beautiful two story open air coffee shop.

My wife brought a copy of Vogue and GQ from America, and the two girls practically screamed with joy when we gave them the gifts after our tour. We also brought two boxes of girl scout cookies, but it was the magazines that they loved. Make sure you bring them a small gift. It's not required, but how could you not give them a small sign of appreciation after spending an entire day with you.

If you are visiting Hanoi, and you are outgoing, this is the perfect way to see the city. If you are more of a quiet person, than a regular tour is the way to go.

Hanoi kids is an amazing experience. These students do this for no money, and yet most of them are students. We learned and saw so much about Hanoi, thanks to our amazing guide Nhung.
She was SO lovely and so knowledgeable and her english was perfect. We had an incredible day, one we won't forget and we made a lovely new friend!

“A good way to see some local sights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

This is an excellent , cheap easy way to see local Hanoi, with some lovely guides, who are very knowledgable and are keen to please. They take the stress out of taxis, directions and make your sight seeing much easier. They do not accept payment say please take something from your homeland to give them as a gift instead.
