We were a party of 6 adults & 4 children and had a wide choice of junks available to us - the one we chose was virtually brand new. Prices were very reasonable and for at least one of us, this was a life-time ambition. We spent 3 days and 2 nights on the Bay: meandering amongst the 1000+ mountain tops in complete silence was a magical experience. We visited a floating village (where the cook purchased more fresh fish), two magnificent cave formations where features were spectacularly illuminated by coloured lights, swam off the boat when we anchored for the night and I even got to steer the junk - to the amusement of the crew. How the cook managed to prepare such wonderful meals in such a tiny galley was extraordinary but each meal was a fantastic experience and we were also introduced to fruits that we had previously never seen. Unfortunately, there was insufficient wind to deploy the junk's sails so we poodled along under the quietest of engines. Oh for the opportunity to repeat the experience - red letter days which will remain in our memories for ever. PS Look out for a working lime kiln on the way back to Hanoi. Not seen in the UK for over 100 years. The 'fees' (see below) were restricted to the hire cost of the junk. All meals were included and the junk, of course, had toilets and showers.
