“Overall quite good considering the environment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013 via mobile

Paid $55USD for the VIP suite located on the top floor (Room 1102). Wasn't bad however after staying a second night in Hanoi in a different hotel I discovered the benefits of bargaining. Thus in comparison to what is out there, the best room in this hotel is dated, wifi signal is poor, bathroom lights dot go off at night which is bad because its a glass wall right into your bedroom, hot water is unreliable, breakfast is average at best. The staff service is excellent however like all hotel staff in Hanoi they will not take no for an answer concerning a Ha Long Bay cruise. On that note, find a good tour and don't get conned into a dodgy operator. Location of hotel is pretty good too. Overall this hotel is 2.5 stars west equivalent.

Excellent hotel with all basic facilities .The key feature is the staff ,who are always willing to offer a great service. Negatives are lack of English knowledge for communication purposes and weak wifi connections

The room was modern and updated and had everything we needed after our long travel. The room was a great value and was updated and clean but was on the small side. They had a nice breakfest included which hit the spot.

I stayed here from 28th with my boy friend. We booked the Superior City View and got free upgrade to Vip Room on the top floor with a really nice view of the old city and Red River. The room was very new and modern. The Customer service man showed everything we should go and see in Hanoi and the North of Vietnam. We booked the tours there with a good price and got a very good tour guide and meals. The Buffet breakfast was so fantastic with lots of choices. The location is perfect for staying here both for leisure and business travelers because it’s so easy to find any restaurant or shop nearby, just 2 minutes from hotel to Hoan Kiem lake. We would recommend Gia Bao Grand Hotel to anyone come to stay in Hanoi if you want to explore the old city here.

Clean comfortable facilities and friendly helpful staff made our family stay (parents and 13-year son) in Hanoi enjoyable. The location is great with easy access to the lake and restaurants around. Well organized bathrooms with nice bathtubs. Free Wi-Fi in the rooms. Buffet breakfast.
We found our favorite rooftop restaurant, Gourmet Corner, on the same street, which turned out to be a true bonus.

We spent 4 nights at the Gia Bao and had a great stay. The rooms were clean the staff very friendly. It's close to the lake and old quarter. A cheap cab ride will take you to tourist attractions, many are in walking distance. Breakfast is fairly simple but ok. Good value hotel in great location. Try the Indian restaurant a few doors down on same side of road towards the lake, the best Indian I have had.
