“Great cooking class, highly recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

In february, my girlfriend and I joined a morning cooking class. Very informative, pleasant and tasty results! Nice market tour and tasting various things on our way. The class is not to formal, what we really like. Highly recommended!

“Great Fun & Informative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014 via mobile

Lots of classes in Hanoi, I don't know how this compares but we had a great day. We were told it would be 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Well it was nearly 6 as we were offered to make pho ba soup which needs to simmer. We started making the soup first so it could simmer then off to the market. The tour was great. We tried lots of different veg and learnt a lot. Then back to the kitchen to make the rest of our lunch. The chef was superb & Mr Tinh a great translator and comedian!

Heartily recommended. Be hungry. Allow yourself time to finish the cooking & eat it. We left laughing & joking at nearly 3 pm.

“Such fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014

So much has been said about the cooking class, so we won't repeat. Instead, We shall add on - tinh(?) was lovely and personable.

I'm not much of a cook. This was a vday activity for the boyfriend.
But it Was an insightful morning spent with a true blue Vietnamese where, in addition to taking us to the market, he spent time hinting to us that it was time to get married. And that I should learn to cook. Hahaha.

He also showed us where to get good coffee, good beer, and change money. Ask him anything!

Later on, we chanced upon him outside countryside restaurant, which is also opened by his friend, where he gave us a cup of tea, cups of home brewed apple liquor. Showed us snake liquor and worm liquor, and pointed out attractions to us on a map, before sending us on our way, our hearts warm, and slightly buzzed from the apple liquor.

Not bad at all. Highly recommended! And yes. There was a lot of delicious food served. And cooked by us.

“the sooner the better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

Amazing morning in Hanoi!
Our Guide, Tinh, picked us up at our hotel, offered us some delicious coffee at the Blue Butterfly restaurant and then took us to the market. As we were the only students this morning, we could ask a lot of questions and Tinh (who speaks 1a english) would eagerly answer them all. He explained all the herbs and how they are used in the Vietnamese kitchen. After that, we could try out all the fresh fruits from the market. So, if you are unsure what fruit is eaten and tastes how, do this class at the beginning of your trip. this way you can come back to the market everyday and catch yourself some fresh breakfast.
the cooking class then was a lot of fun; 3 basic vietnamese dishes: papaya salad with beef jerky, fried chicken with lemon grass and ginger and hanoi spring rolls. we had to do all the chopping, after that the Chef showed us how to create the dipping and salad sauce and carrot/tomato-flowers as well as how to roll a springroll. then it was time to fry and eat. delicious. and XXL portions.

“Fun way to spend an afternoon in Hanoi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

We were the only two people in the cooking class that day which was of great benefit to us: on our stroll around the local market our guide Thin answered our various questions and had us try everything from exotic fruits to deep fried seaworms. Back at the restaurant we got set up for cooking - we had great fun and learned a lot. In advance had asked for special dishes to be cooked which was no problem, and they even explained other recipes in great detail to us. All in all we spent 4 hours there with our guide Thin and the charming cook in a 1-on-1 class - it was worth every penny.

Tipp: they offer to get a ride to the market and back. Chose to walk - it's more fun, you get more explanations and the distance is easily doable in ten minutes.
