“Fantastic staff make good hotel great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

Stayed here for two nights, with a trip to sapa in the middle. They looked after us, and went beyond the call of duty to make our trip easier. They offered us a great room rate, free luggage storage, and even let us camp in their reception very early in the morning. It was also great that they gave us a large room on request. The lady also helped us secure a cheap fixed price taxi to airport. Breakfast was a good selection, considering the size of the hotel. Great location, comfortable rooms and overall a nice place to stay. Would happily stay here again, and recommend this to anyone travelling to Hanoi. Free Internet is good too.

My girlfriend and I stayed in a suite room in this hotel for 3 nights in total with 2 nights in the middle to visit Halong Bay. I thought the hotel offered very good value for money in an excellent location to explore the Old Quarter of Hanoi. The reception staff were very helpful in advising on taxis and restaurants and the concierge guys would beat you to the door every time and never let you carry your own bags. The professional pictures of the rooms are a little deceptive and I wouldn't call the room we stayed in a 'suite' but for a 3 star hotel and the price we payed, the room we was perfectly good with a big comfy bed, PC, new air-con unit, private balcony, decent shower and jacuzzi bath. The hotel also has it's own ATM at the door which if you've just arrived in Vietnam and haven't got any 'Dong' on you yet and you're a bit apprehensive of wandering around Hanoi with your wallet and all your cash on your person then this is great (although, as it happens Hanoi seems like a very safe city and I'm sure you'd be fine).

My one grumble with the hotel was the breakfast which was pretty limited in choice and not the best quality, but back to my earlier point; this is a 3 star hotel not 5 star so you get what you pay for.

Just as an addition... they don't do strong tea in the hotel (or the whole of Vietnam for that matter) so if you're a Brit who needs a good strong mug of tea in the morning you may struggle. However, if you ask for your own tea-bag, the staff were more than happy to give you one.

We stayed at the Luxor Hotel for 4 nights in a twin room. On arrival it seemed their had been some issues with the communication from the online seller, and the hotel. After 5mins the hotel offered us a twin room at the top of the hotel (7th floor) with views out both sides of the building. The only catch was the lift stopped at 5th floor, so we had a short walk up stairs each time. The room was large, spacious and well decorated. It had a nice seating area and it was great to be able to look out over the old quarter of Hanoi. The breakfast was nice, although a large group was staying and that caused the food to be done over. Staff were very friendly and supportive, and a full tour desk is available in the lobby. Hotel pick up at the airport was simple and driver was well dressed, and the car was in good condition (nice not to be in a van too!). Location is not the best, and you will need to be prepared to walk, or taxi to seek out restaurants.

We enjoyed our stay at the Luxor very much. Excellent staff. The rooms have pergo flooring and simple furniture, so it is not a deluxe type room experience but it was a comfortable quiet respite from the chaos and activity of Hanoi. Clean and comfortable beds with fresh duvets. Good breakfast buffet. Free computers to use in the lobby. Small European-type elevator. There is an ATM directly outside the door. Many restaurants and shopping within close walking distance. It is a good location with great service. The spa that is their recommendation is OUTSTANDING for foot massage!

Room Tip: Like most big cities in the world Hanoi is very noisy so just bring some ear plugs. Another tip with...

This hotel is in the heart of Old Hanoi and was the best for customer service in all the hotels we stayed in both Vietnam and Cambodia. The staff are attentive and cannot do enough for you from the porter to the breakfast staff and Reception are always helpful. Great location if you do want to stay in the old town - not far from Hoam Kiem Lake if you can manouvre the streets of the old town without getting lost - there are useful maps!! If you get a city view it can be a little noisy given the mopeds of Hanoi but if you're early risers anyway it doesn't make any difference!

Great hotel in the heart of Hanoi. Clean rooms with all the extras (soap, shampoo, hair dryer, water, fruit, tv, hangers), quite, great service, wifi, internet downstairs as well, but.. but so so hard to find when walking back from anywhere because the streets are so confusing in Hanoi. Although every hotel would be the same I suppose :)
