“Comfortable and good location in old quarter of Hanoi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

We arrived in Hanoi after a 24 hour flight. We were happy to make it to this nice little hotel in the heart of the old quarter. It was clean, comfortable, had a tv with english channels, hot shower, hot tea and nice english speaking staff. Our safe didn't work well in our room, but other than that we were very happy to have a comfortable room after such a long flight.

This hotel is small and isn't luxurious, but for the price and location, I give it 4 stars. The old quarter is pretty fast pace and you are within walking distance of a bunch of restaurants, the lake and a temple. Be careful walking around though, the motorcycles and cars are crazy. We didn't explore much of Hanoi, so I don't know how to compare the old quarter with rest of the city.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights whilst exploring Hanoi and Ha Long Bay. We were given a family room which was really spacious and comfortable! The staff were extremely helpful and helped us book an excellent Cooking course and Ha Long Bay Cruise. The hotel is close to the heart of Hanoi, with the lake and markets a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was great - a good selection of hot food, fruits and delicious fruit juices. I would definitely stay here again!

The Hanoi Old Centre hotel didn't disappoint! We had arranged airport pickup to avoid any taxi scams taking us to the wrong place, and when we touched down our guy was waiting for us. The hotel is in a great location, very close to the lake and in the heart of the old quarter. Upon our arrival, we were given a welcome drink while they checked over our passports. We had two rooms and requested they be next to/near each other and they fulfilled our request and were just across the hall from each other. There was a lift so no climbing upstairs and the free wifi worked just fine. Our room over looked the street and had a small balcony which was a nice surprise. There was also a small fridge in the room and the air con worked well. The only thing a bit odd about the bathroom was that there wasn't a closed off shower, just a curtain separating it from the toilet and sink so the whole bathroom floor would be wet after a shower.

The breakfast was nice. Fruit was set out along with juices, tea, and coffee. We got to order a hot breakfast with fried eggs but they had many other things to choose from. I'd stay here again if ever back in Hanoi.

No complaints- great hotel.

Located 5 min from old quarter and night market- across from a crazy street. Lake is 2 minute walk- I recommend a walk around the same in the morning.

Pho lady in the morning in an alley next to the hotel was the best pho we had in Hanoi.

Arranged tour through hotel

My wife and I stayed here for a night and then 2 nights after returning from Halong Bay. What we will remember about this hotel is how great the staff were and especially Vincent and Thuy.

I am embarrassed to admit I cleverly left my ATM card in the ATM and by the time I realised the card was eaten.

Vincent saw our distress and immediaitely did everything he could to help us contacting the bank and speaking to them on our behalf. When we retunred from Halong Bay he had again spoken to the bank and we simply had to go to their head office and get it back which was a great relief.

Bu this was typical of how much effort they made to see if there was anything they could do for you.

Breakfast was also nice.

Only other thing I would recommend is to spend the little bit extra and get the bigger room especially if you have just come from a more expensive hotel.

Location is perfect as can easilyh walk to the lake, night markets and the restuarants on our street were great.

A big 'thank you' to all staff of Hanoi Old Centre Hotel; each time I have had the privilege of visiting charming Hanoi & staying with HOCH you have unfailingly made me feel at home. I opted for a Tourist Visa Upon Arrival, expertly pre-arranged by Ms. Thuy, which worked smoothly upon arrival at Noi Bai (look for Visa Upon Arrival Desk at Immigration Hall & bring along a visa photograph), as well, a late night airport meet/pick-up and was warmly welcomed by Hoan at reception upon check-in. My room immaculately cleaned each day ~ new touch of pretty rose petals creatively scattered on bed to greet your arrival; a full choice of breakfast (try the delicious ginger tea) ~ new touch of complimentary fruit/juices throughout the day very welcome; use of lobby computers/usually reliable internet; very convenient location to all things in Old Quarter. Also had a train ticket arranged (very secure luggage storage at hotel), as well a 5 A.M. moto pick-up from Ha Noi train station when returned from Hoi An .. happiness is seeing a smiling, familiar face (thank you :-) at that time of day following an overnight train ride one step ahead of Typhoon Haiyan. All hotel staff are always so very genuinely welcoming, friendly and helpful .. a traveler could not ask for more! Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Hanoi Old Centre for 5 nights with a trip to Halong bay sandwiched in between. Airport pickup was $15 and pretty easy. Greeting at the hotel was excellent and without asking we were upgraded to a balcony room. Great stuff. Our host spoke very good English and gave us some ideas/information around town. In hindsight booking a tour through the hotel was quite a bit more than at tour shops but we didn't haggle so what the hey. The week we stayed there was a festival of some kind because every day at 6am this strange middle eastern music would start up and play all day. Early bird and all that.....Upon our return from Halong bay we were upgraded again this time to the honeymoon sweet :) Breakfast is included in the overnight price and their pho bo was very good! The let down was that on one day the chef was not in so it was toast or bust. Also steer clear of the coffee its like tar! The different juices should be labeled because a few are similarly coloured. Would stay here again.
