“ust to spend one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Do not be alarmed because they hold your passport until you leave. The hotel is very big and very strange, but the room is quite comfortable with a giant balcony and amazing view. Do not go to the restaurant: Environment sad and bad food. Hotel just to spend one night before boarding the cruise for Halong Bay The staff has English medium.

This was my second stay at this hotel in approx 2 years. The hotel room was looking a little rough around the edges .For example the wall in our room had been damaged and roughly repaired but not repainted.Luckily I was spending more time on the balcony enjoying a drink and the fantastic view of halong bay.The room was otherwise very clean although the bed was hard-which you get used to travelling in asia.Breakfast was average but included for us.THe pool area was lovelyand very enjoyable after a day of sailing on Halong bay

Room Tip: ask for the bay view rooms

This was my second stay in four months. We stayed in the villas adjacent to the new build 4 Star hotel. They are classified as 3 Star but are well above that standard. We still had access to all the hotel's facilities including the excellent buffet breakfast and swimming pool.
A wonderful place to stay. Clean, comfortable, excellent facilities and ideally suited for access to the night market, the beach and the tourist wharf for a "must do" trip around Ha Long Bay.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Throughout our stay this large hotel was virtually empty. Instead of upgrading us automatically to the front of the hotel which had spectacular views we were given rooms at the back. We had to pay $30 extra per night for our 2 rooms to move to front side. The manager was helpful and the dining rom staff were great. The breakfast included was very good. The location is great for view but not so convenient for walking. The pool bar was not open and it was hard to get towels at the pool. The hotel did arrange a very. Ice day cruise for us at a good price. Overall a good hotel but definitely room for improvement.

it is near to the harbour where you board on a boat for halong bay tour. some eateries along the street.

room average. old decoration. lighting is a bit dim. limited tv channel. bed very hard. smooth free wifi in room.

breakfast is adequate just not much choice. the chef at egg station couldnt speak english and practice a poor attitude on customers' request, probably its communication failure due to language barrier?

Room Tip: ask for a bayview room instead of a hillview room..

The first problem with this hotel is that there was no theme. It has a modern chandelier and leather couches around the columns and then someone stuck some giant porcelain vases by the elevator. The room they gave us was pretty smelly so they changed our room. We had the crappy mountain view but they were packed so we couldn't switch. Mr Canh, the trip advisor person there, arranged our Ha Long Bay tour for us. He said it would be 300,000 VND/person but the boat captain told us it would be 400,000VND/ person. We were pretty annoyed by that and that didn't include the taxi ride back from the boat dock. Later we wanted a car to Hai Phong and the hotel wanted to charge us 1,400,000VND. They lowered by 200,000 when we made a face. We got a ride back to Hai Phong for 653,000 VND from taxi, half the price the hotel quoted us. Get ready to get rip off in Ha Long. I understand, its a tourist area and everything is more expensive but they have a price for the international travelers and a price for the locals. We are American Vietnamese and if we spoke Vietnamese, they would give us one price but when we spoke English, they would add on a couple of 1000s just to be jerks. This is really not the hotel's fault, just a fair warning to travelers going to Ha Long. The only saving grace is the hotel had good food and large portions.

Huge rooms, beautiful view over the bay. Our last night in vietnam so went for the rooms with the view. well worth it. the junk tour ended just after lunch so we had plenty of time to sit and have drink and just gaze out over the bay. huge floor to ceiling glass windows. spacious rooms. hotel does get busy with tour groups so when checking out allow plenty of time to catch the lift and checking out. you may have to catch the lift up and then ride back down to the ground floor. it was very full when we were there and couldn't get the lift down as it was always full. plenty of variety at breakfast. dinner was fine also. not alot around halong at the moment but this will change with time. markets 10-15 mins walk down the road. also a handfull of restaurants and cafes but didn't go to any of these. pool was closed for renovation when we were there.
