The resort is about 10 minutes (7 km) by motorcycle taxi east of Cai Rong and 300m off the main road at Bai Dai (Long Beach) on Van Don Island, which is in Bai Tu Long and North East of Halong Bay. It is 1 1/2 hours by bus from Halong City. Local ferries from many islands in Bai Tu Long land at Cai Rong.

The location of the resort at Long Beach really tells the whole story. The grounds are over 100 ha (250 acres) with a coast line of 10km (6 miles). In season (June through September) the place is crowded with Vietnamese vacationers, and at that time of year all kinds of water sports and shady seating areas are readily available.

The location is stunning. There are rocky islets just off-shore and steep cliffs just behind the resort. At the beginning of April, I was the only guest at the resort - although I was told that there had been a group there the previous night.

There are both rooms and villas available. I did not see inside the latter. The 52 rooms are built up on stilts, each building having four large, adequately furnished rooms with TV and telephone. The shower in the bathroom is of the "drain in the floor" kind, where there is neither an enclosure nor a curtain to prevent the whole area from getting wet. There are seating areas and billiard tables underneath the buildings.

The restaurant is outdoors but under cover. The tables and stools are made of cement looking like rustic tree trunks. I found them hard and cold. The fish I ordered at dinner was excellent. Breakfast was NOT included in the room rate, and the only choice was an uninspiring bowl of noodles.

I paid $30/night for 1 person.
