“Friendly people. Clean & modern. Great value.”

We followed the Lonely Planet to the 'Dreams Hotel' but they were full, but the owner offered us this hotel owned by her brother, (also, in the LP). It started pouring with rain, so she called her brother to pick us up in his car.

It is located just 1km away from town centre and takes around 10-15mins to walk there. It was nice to stay away from all the noise of the centre. Many of the cafes blast loud music until late.

The room we stayed in was US$20, double with a clean and modern bathroom. There is a fan, safe, TV, wardrobe, desk and chair. The bed is soft and the pillows fluffy. The wifi is fast and it's free through the hotel.

For an extra US$5, you can get a room with a balcony, AC (though you won't need it because it's very cool here, even in the middle of summer), bathtub and an italian shower.

The breakfast is awesome! Included in the price of the room. You get lots of fruit, dragon fruit, watermelon, bananas, pineapple, passionfruit, avocados, tomatoes and you can eat as much as you like. There's also baguettes with all the usual condiments, as well as cold meats, eggs as you like them, juice, tea and coffee. Trust me, you won't go hungry!

On top of all this, the owner is very nice and speaks excellent English. You won't regret staying here.

Room Tip: I would suggest a room away from the staircase. The doors are a bit thin, so can be noisy.

It would be difficult to find a hotel with more friendly, helpful service than the Thien An hotel in Dalat. The owner is always available to help and make your stay enjoyable. However, prospective guests should be aware of a couple of things. Contrary to the impression given by some guide books, Dalat is not a small mountain town. It is a large, dynamic city, spread over a large area. The hotel Thien An is some way – a good 10-15 minutes walk – from the centre. Like everywhere in Vietnam, people drive with one hand on the horn. This means that some rooms at the Thien An can be noisy. My wife and I both slept with earplugs. That said, the hotel is tremendous value for $25 for a double room, breakfast and taxes included.

After spending 10 days touring the Mekong delta we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It was one of the cleanest and best value hotels we stayed in during our 4 week holiday to Vietnam.

The owner was very helpful and spoke good english - nothing was too much trouble for him. We had a bit of problem booking a flight through vietnam airlines website, but he sorted it out for us, and saved us quite a bit on the cost, so if you're thinking of booking any flights it might be worth while asking him to do it for you.

The hotel and the bedrooms were very clean and theres a very good communal breakfast. We hired the hotels motorbike one day to get out into the countryside and had a really good time.

We didn't find the walk into town too far, plenty of shops/restaurants on the way. Try out 'Chocolate' restaurant on the left as you walk into town - its not as the name suggest, and we found the food and the service very reasonable. Da Lat itself is a lovely town, we had lovely weather whilst we were there. If time allows check out the 'Crazy House' which is on the other side of town - so it might be best to get a taxi there.

We would certainly recommend this hotel, and stayed longer than intended.

Came to Dalat from Saigon to get out of the heat for a few days, I were planning on staying 2 nights but I've ended on staying 6! (and i still don't want to leave my lovely room). I had a great time here, it has been the best place I've stayed so far on my travels. The room was spacious and homey. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were always ready to help. If you have not got the picture so far, I think this place is great and will recommend it!

The rooms were spacious and very clean. The owners very nice. They were very helpful with organizing stuff. Breakfast was ok as well.
One drawback was the location. It is quite a walk along a busy street to get into the city centre. The other drawback was the noise, but that's a general problem in Vietnam's guesthouses.

Not the best first impression when my Vietnamese friend phoned them up to make the booking - the first question that the hotel asked was "are you vietnamese or foreign?'. My friend replied Vietnamese (they are, I am not) the hotel replied 'we dont have vietnamese staying here, only foreigners' and promptly finished the conversation. A big rip-off red flag.

Despite this I went anyway, as Dreams wasnt available and there was a good online discount. Hotel is quite a long way from any of the places you would want to see, so they have a couple of motorbikes that can be rented. If you want to see the city, you will have to rent these, go on a city tour (I would suggest booking this in a city centre agency or you will have to pay double booking commission to both the hotel and the agency) or be prepared for quite a hike to see any of the sights or find a nice restaurant. Da lat is a beautiful city, this hotel didnt help.

Not a disastrously bad place, but unfriendly and inconvenient, wouldnt recommend.

We stayed for four days at Thien An. The couple that run the hotel are very professional and can book tours. Bicycles are offered, and motorbikes for rent on premise. Free internet, communal breakfast, and very affordable. A little bit of a walk to town but with Dalat's cool weather it was no bother. The hotel was very clean, and it was a pleasure to stay here. Excellent value for the price.
