We stayed here for 2 nights in December on the recommendation of a contact. The hotel is in a lovely spot overlooking the lake and the grounds are very pretty. All rooms overlook a courtyard which has chairs, tables and a water feature. We had a ground floor standard room (I think) which was quite large and featured a king size bed, small couch, ample space for luggage, satellite tv, and good size bathroom with a big shower (no bath).

Hotel breakfast was better earlier on, the first day we went down late and there wasn't much choice.

Because it was December they were playing Christmas carols piped through the speakers outside which was very annoying!

The hotel is in a good location, you can walk to the central market and there are restaurants and shops close by.

We enjoyed our time at the hotel and in Dalat and wish we'd stayed longer.

Access to the Empress JHotel is either by approximately 25 steps or up the U-shaped drive; The hotel overlooks the lake, which is on the opposite side of the road, although noise was not a problem. There is a court yard facing the lake with rooms on two sides and the hotel reception/ dining room on the other.

Most rooms have lake views - some better than others - our room was on the ground floor - you would almost certainly get a better view from the first floor. The rooms have sliding shutters to the windows, are confortable and well lit should you wish to read.. We had a shower unit over the bath.

The breakfast was limited and the restaurant did not have many customers in the evening, however, I must point out that November is low season in Dalat and a small jacket or similar is needed in the evening..

The staff were friendly and those at reception were willing to help with your queries There is a lovely old Merc, belonging to the owner which you can hire by the hour should you wish.

There are more up- market hotels in Dalat, but nevertheless this hotel has a lot to offer. within it's 3* rating
