“Incredible architecture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

I had to say that I was breathlessness in seeing this grand hotel with incredible architecture located in beautiful mountain hill which fulled of abundant flowers.

You totally should stay there to experience.

Although we stayed only a few nights, we could have stayed a week. Beautifully positioned, this 100 year old hotel provided a unique base to explore the area. The restaurant served some of the best French cuisine I have experienced and the wine list.....superb

Room Tip: The lake view rooms are wonderful

This is certainly not the best Hotel in Dalat. The architecture is very interesting ( built by the french), but the building needs a complete modernisation. It's settled along the noisiest highway leading to Saigon ( many trucks are passing) and the room isolation is unexistent ( risk of sleepless night). The rooms ( especially the bathrooms) are very old style and not very confortable. The breakfast was our worsest in Vietnam and the hotel in general is complitly overprized (we only looked the restaurant list but didn't tried it because of the prices). My best expirience in this hotel was the spa,Where I had my best massage in Vietnam.

I had to admit frankly that I was breathtaking in seeing such a grand hotel standing at the hill overseeing the beautiful lake with breeze so comforting. However, when I had to walk flights of steps to and from the hotel, it nearly killed me!!! especially I had to walk from the nearby market. The staff was friendly but not professional enough. What killed me was the old fashioned bath tub when you stepped in or out it made terrible sounds. Worse still, when I stood up to have shower, terrible, the floor of bathroom was flooding. Imagine how embarrassed I would be when they clean up my room tomorrow!!! The walk to the market was long and dangerous because of the great inflow of motorcycyles without traffic lights. The service of the hotel was rather limited, no shuttle bus to the market and when you walk back, no light on the pathway to show you the way clear. Never bring elderlies here for so many steps kill!!!!

Room Tip: choose window facing the lake.

We are currently staying at this hotel, and let me start of by saying the hotel is lovely.
We arranged transport from the airport,( about 30 mins away). Our flight was cancelled due to bad weather and we arrived a day late.Having advised these changes from h.c.m. city I wondered if the car would be there to greet us,,(it was).
The staff are all friendly and the rooms large,
We are traveling with a 3 year old,and she feels like a princess in this hotel.
As mentioned in other reviews the breakfast buffet is a bit small, but the eggs were cooked perfectly and the croisants are the best I,ve ever had ...including in France.
So if your feeling cashed up for a few days its fun to play colonial..

History abounds.experience the luxury of yesteryear! Rooms were comfortable. Staff helpful.explore the surrounds....relaxing and fascinating. Breakfast was a letdown....poor selection. High tea was exquisite! Delicious and abundant!

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room with balcony. Breathtaking views!

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. Hotel was built in 1916-1922 and was refurbished in 1995. They kept the old style which was a lovely change to the other hotels I stayed in in Vietnam.
The hotel is about a 5-10min walk into the city centre.
Rooms are a good size with a small old school bathroom. There is a bath with a shower head however no place to put the shower head so you have to hold it if you don't want a bath.
The rooms phone (old style) you can hardly hear anyone and it keeps cutting out, which makes ordering room service a bit of a challenge!
For a 5 star hotel the food was barely edible. I had the pancakes one morning in the restaurant and they were dry and stale. The room service dinner meals were not as bad but were not of up to standard when comparing to other hotels ive stayed at in Vietnam. Word of advice, don't order the cheesecake!
There is also no milk available for the tea/coffee facilities in your room.
The reservation team were very helpful and the golf course should be on your to do list for the keen golfers!
Larry's bar which is in the basement of the hotel is a must for a quiet drink and playing pool. Service in Larry's bar was fantastic.
