expect little sleep, after complaining a hundred times about the rooster that starts at 5am (330am on the last night), the receptionist (who didnt see it as being a problem at all), she informed me that the rooster lives on the roof and is a "hobby" of the staff.. hobby's are great, but when its ruining the paying guests sleep, its not good management.. the position of it seems to be right above the stair well, so its like on loud speaker, as this hotel is echo city.. it was horrific.. and even trying to catch up on lost sleep in the daytime, the rooster still go's off.. on the second day they moved it to the front of upstairs, but it made little diff.. im sure the minute i left it went back to that spot..i wouldnt recommend staying here for that reason.. but there are others..
its very average.. i paid $18USD a night for a double.. and its realy not worth that much.. its more of a $15 a night place, if you compare it to other places in vietnam.. its not like your paying the extra cost for aircon, cause there isnt a need for it.. so that should shave at least $3 off it.. rusty taps and fittings in the bathroom.. the smallest window in the bedroom, thats covered with some sort of ugly contact paper.. (god knows what would happen in a fire?).. mold in one corner of the ceiling.. and a feeling of not wanting to spend much time in the room.. this huge tv on wall brackets.. bad choice of artwork (far too small for the wall) in the room and hall ways.. room plus's are the bed is comfortable and good, but its out 6 inches from the wall, as the wall light switch is behind it.. so the extra floor space you would get from the electrics being fixed would be desirable.. bad flouro lights in the room.. the whole electrics need attention.. the light for the bathroom is behind the door, so that needs moving too..
the floor tiles are good.. so they have done some work to the place.. but not enough.. they need someone who has an idea about design and styling to make the room feel and look a lot better.. it doesnt cost a lot to style a room, this is vietnam.. just takes someone with more vision than clearly the person who is responsible, has.. i know this is harsh.. but you need to know (as i can see the owner/management comments on negative posts on trip advisor) that compared to other hotels i stayed in for the same price, yours failed to meet the standard that the rest of vietnam seems to have adopted..
clearly your not spending any time checking up on this place.. as you would of heard the rooster.. i was told not to tell you about the rooster..
i asked for an hour later check out, and said i was happy to pay an extra few dollars for that, but its seems thats not allowed (i was the only guest in the hotel at the time).. i would of thought extra cash would be something management would be only too happy to accept.. especialy when the receptionist told me, she knew i had an awful time staying there, due to the noise issues..
ive seen someone else on here complain about the street noise.. the street noise in the front rooms would be over the top.. that street is a motorbike highway..its like trying to cross a road in hcmc.. impossible.. if you think good quality earplugs are needed, than you should provide them.. yes vietnam is noisy, but like the hotel i stayed at in nha trang, put double glazing on the windows..
my suggestion for you, is that you turn the hotel into a backpackers.. as they dont care how bad the place looks and the noise, and you would probably make more money as the place would be packed all the time..
the only reason i gave this review 3 stars is because the staff were very sweet and nice.. so at least you have that going for the place..the breakfast was good too.. the foyer chairs are great and very smart, as is the facade of the building.. as a child and teenager, i grew up in the hotel/pub business.. you cant just leave a hotel or any business to staff to just run for you.. they end up having a pet rooster on the roof and will run your business into the ground.. go and stay at carpe DM hotel in nha trang.. $18 gets you a suite, three times the size of your room, with 180 degree views of mtns, huge balcony, flat screen tv (which every hotel seems to have now, so they must be cheap) and its super modern and styled to perfection.. you could get some good ideas about how to fix yours up..
i am truly sorry for saying all this, but thats what this site is about.. honest reviews of places we travel to.. if it wasnt for trip advisor i wouldnt of found your place..
good luck.. peace to you..

Our apologies. Indeed there was a rooster (staff said it was on the neighbor's roof, not ours). The problem has been solved, the rooster was moved out of the neighborhood. (He's still alive! :-)

Just on a side note... again... Vietnam can be a very very noisy place at times... Dogs, motorbikes, horns, construction... Earplugs highly recommended for a good night's sleep in Vietnam (and much of Asia).
