“Truly Deserves its #1 Spot on TA - I did not regret my choice at all!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

The Dalat Edensee,

I booked a Deluxe Lake View room - 100% worth it (You will appreciate paying a little more for the privacy and view it offers.)

It truly deserves its #1 spot on TripAdvisor. From the moment i made the booking and corresponded with the reservations officer (Ms. Thuy Trang) til the time i left, i was left impressed and very satisfied with their levels and commitment to staying true to their mission of "Come. Stay. Experience". From the very beginning right till the end, it was safe to say that we were treated with utmost warmth. Amongst all the properties i have stayed in among all the different countries i have visited, Edensee indeed ranks as the top on my list.

***

First Impressions -

My first impression had already been good. As my fiancee and i would have stayed in Dalat for 2 nights prior already, i enquired with the hotel if they would be able to pick me up from my previous hotel. Ms. Thuy Trang, who handled my inquiry, not only gave me a warm reply, she gladly arranged for a car to pick my fiancee and I up from the hotel's doorstep.

Our "WOWs" began the moment we stepped into the car - A luxurious Executive Car with bottled water and a welcome letter started out ride into Edensee on a good note.

Ride into Edensee -

The Hotel is located in a remote area away from the City Center and it is almost impossible to find your way there unless you took a cab in. But as we were picked up by a Limo, we had that covered. The view of the Tuyen Lam Lake while driving in was Fantastic. The moment we drove into the main property itself, we were both floored at the beauty and span of the property. Beautiful private European Style villas dotting the landscape. Magnificent.

Check in and Rooms -

Check in was warm, fast and friendly. The moment we checked in, the front office arranged a club car to transport us and our luggage to our villa. The rooms are spacious, luxurious and beautiful, the toilets - mindblowing. Personal jacuzzi, rain showers all with a magnificent, beautiful view of the lake and the Pine Wood Forest! Both of us each took time to soak and relax in the personal jacuzzi.

Wrapping up in the fluffy towel-coat after that completed the relaxing experience.

Room Facillities -

The Balcony was where i spent a large amount of time lazing with my fiancee. Why not when the view was simply great. The gentle rustling of the pine trees in the crisp mountain air made for a calming and relaxing time, great for conversations to reconnect with your loved one.

Oh and did i mention the fireplace? It had always been our dream to stay at a hotel with a fireplace and on this trip, our dreams were fulfilled. It was great firing up the fireplace while we cosy-ed together in front of it to warm ourselves amidst the cold night mountain air.

The toilet even had its own fireplace and we left it on the whole night so that in the chilly morning, we did not have to freeze ourselves while taking a shower - it worked like a charm.

With the rain shower overlooking the lake through the pine wood forest, it was a real delight to shower with such a magnificent view.

Rooms offer much privacy and the sereneness of the property offered you a chance to fully relax and enjoy the scenery and take your mind off work and the hustle and bustle of city life.

Service -

A special mention to the Restaurant Executive Mr. Tri for his absolute kindness and warm when we had our dinner at the fantastic Riesling restaurant. Together with his crew of excellent wait staff, He provided us excellent service and even took the time to speak to us and share with us his passion for his job and his love for the Hotel.

He also took the time to share with us about Dalat's very own wine and offered tips on when is the best time to stay at the Edensee again. My fiancee and i both had a great time chatting with him. His thoughtfulness was also evident when he took the initiative to provide more candles as we were having our dinner on the restaurant's open deck.

At breakfast, we once again met him and he showed us around the buffet spread and shared tips with us on what we should try.

He truly made our experience all the more wonderful. We commend him highly for his professionalism!

Like Tri, all of the staff we encountered during our stay at Edensee was kind and friendly to us. They were eager to attend to our requests.

We could feel their genuine warmth and excellent attitude towards service.

***

Hotel Facilities -

As we were there during the low season, most of the hotel facilities were not operating, but i believe that if you request for it, they will personally switch it on for you. The heated swimming pool for example was closed but the hotel staff told us that if we wanted, they could switch it on for us. We didn't have to as we were having a great time playing badminton in the cool mountain air.

***

I will definitely return to the Edensee, not just for the view, but for the pleasure of having the privilege to be in the service of the wonderful staff at Edensee.

PS : Choose the Deluxe Lake View Room, it is well worth the difference in price as the mountain view rooms generally look directly into another villa.

PSS : While at Dalat, do try their local wines with a preserved sour plum dropped in. It seems like Dalat wines were made to be enjoyed that way as the already delicious wine became smooth, almost velvety and sweet after the sour plum infused in it for about 5-10 minutes.

Room Tip: Do book the Deluxe Lake View Room as most of the rooms offered a nice view. Be sure to choose the ro...

The scenery and decor of this hotel are outstanding! The tranquility & peacefulness is amazing. Having said this it is hard to see it as a 5 star facility. The location so far from the city really limits your options & the hotel uses this to their advantage. The restaurant is quite pricey. We had booked & paid for full buffet breakfast. However, since we were the only guests at the time we were only provided a buffet breakfast on one day out of 5. The al a carte menu was very slow & disappointing. We also booked because there was supposed to be a heated pool. Not only was the pool not heated but the water was murky with green mould around the edges. There is no air conditioning which is probably not necessary due to the climate however there are no screens on the windows so when you leave the windows open the room fills with little bugs. The blinds are thin & ineffectual since there is a light right outside the room which is like sleeping in daylight. It is also disconcerting to use the bathroom with such thin & gapey blinds. We requested an iron but were told due to safety we were not allowed one but could pay for the hotel ironing service. Of course we use an iron quite safely at home & in every other hotel & were permitted to use a hair dryer & kettle in the room. We also ordered quite expensive picnic baskets to take on our bus trip to Nha. Trang however what was listed was not what we received & they were packed in little gift bags which were awkward to carry. We had read the reviews about the excellent service & there are certainly plenty of people standing around watching us eat & anything else we do. However we were the only guests in the resort & we had to get back to our room after eating & it was raining heavenly. Several staff ushered us to the door providing umbrellas for us however there were several carts & plenty of drivers wouldn't a 5 star facility have offered to take us to our room in such conditions? The resort has the makings of a 5 star facility but in our view lack the finesse.

Where would you go to celebrate a 20th wedding anniversary? Edensee was highly rated and the comments were spot on!

Highlights and surprises of our 3 day 2 night stay included a "bridal" bed and bathroom strewn with flowers. Our three teenage daughters were tickled to death as we were.

That first evening after spending the afternoon out in Dalat city, we returned to our room to yet another surprise from housekeeping - a chocolate cake studded with fresh roses and 2 glasses of champagne.

The second night the family wanted to have a BBQ dinner and the staff surprised us with a candlelit dinner for the family on the rooftop terrace overlooking the lake to watch the sunset - magical.

In all these experiences, the genuine warmth and grace of the staff was palpable. From the welcome tea and candied ginger slices at check-in, to the staff walking you personally around the resort to orientate you to their various facilities. In particular Tri the housekeeping manager was outstanding for his thoughtful and delightful touches.

There are great onsite activities and facilities for the family. My girls learnt to play billiards (free in the VIP lounge) and tennis (US$10/hr inclusive of rental of courts, racquets and balls) . We enjoyed the well-equipped spa and recreation complex where we played badminton and table tennis and later spent half a day indulging in massages and facials. Being the raining or low season, we had the resort movie theater all to ourselves where we watched our own Korean drama serial on the big screen!

Despite the low season I was particularly pleased that the kitchen did not seem to cut back on the breakfast buffet. There was a good and tasty selection of Asian and Western choices. The Chinese dim sum was particularly delicious. Breakfast was even more enjoyable al fresco

The sprawling resort is made up of 2-storey villas cleverly set in the gentle rolling hills of the property midst the pine forests. Each villa containing 4 hotel rooms/ apartments. There is a lovely sense of privacy and exclusiveness - wonderful for a romantic escapade.

In all it was a precious and memorable family bonding time. Edensee is a perfect place to relax, recharge and renew. We are coming back.

Room Tip: Lakeview rooms are worth it. Our rooms 234 & 238, on the second level of two nearby villa comple...

My family stayed in Dalat Edensee for 4 days and 3 nights. After reading comments and reviews on it, I decided to choose this resort for my family vacation and it was a right choice. The hotel is located on Tuyen Lam lakeside, surrounded by pipe trees. It was so fresh and quiet. We stayed in a family suite. The feeling of stay is "cozy, relaxing, classy". It is perfert place for those who want to stay away from busy and noisy life to refresh oneself and spend time with the beloved ones. I don't comment on accommodation and facilities because you can easily check them out on hotel website. We all were very very pleased with its staff and service attitude. You do not only see "smiling faces" but also feel "wellness" here. Vietnamese dishes are tasty. The hotel was newly inaugurated so not so many people have known about this place. My family want to come back here every year.

The Dalat Edensee is tucked in the midst of rolling hills right next to the prettiest lake in Dalat. Away from the noisy crowded backpacker area, this is where you would go for peace and quite. My Deluxe room had a cozy little balcony with a view of the lake beyond a row of pine-trees. I presume the suites on the other side of the resort have an unhindered view of the lake. The resort currently has an ongoing summer package which is a steal with free fine dining and massage included. I was impressed by the service quality. The service at the restaurant and the spa was especially noteworthy. The lady at the spa gives an excellent massage. Most of the staff spoke fluent English, which to me was a boon in Dalat. They provide a regular shuttle service to Dalat town. Must tries at the restaurant are the wild boar salad, the claypot chicken, and another beef dish, the name of which I now forget. They also have facilities like a gym, swimming pool, a terrace cafe, a karaoke bar, which I could not enjoy due to my short stay and due to the chilly wind. I would definitely return.

Edensee is truly majestic; it has clearly been designed with the luxury traveler in mind and offers exquisite villas, beautiful views and excellent customer service. Having paid a fairly reasonable amount for a 3-night stay we were surprised to be treated like royalty, although this may have been due to the fact that we were 2 among 6 clients in a hotel that can cater for over 1,000.

The resort is set amid beautiful mountains that overlook a large lake - truly stunning scenery. However, as yet there is little opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings, with no means of walking around the lake or doing a spot of fishing unless you have your own transport. The resort would really benefit from having a private jetty by the lake where clients could enjoy sundowners and perhaps borrow a boat to go out on the lake. As such, there is little to do at the resort except indulge in a massage.

While Edensee is located a good 7km out of town, it was a welcome repose to hear nothing but birds after the hustle and bustle of Dalat. A free shuttle service is provided, although we found it to be a little too infrequent (3 times a day), with the last bus leaving Dalat at 20:30 - not really long enough to enjoy a relaxed dinner. The food at the resort itself was expensive but truly delicious; the buffet breakfasts were fantastic and the chefs have obviously been trained to a very high standard, with most ingredients being locally sourced. All the staff we encountered were terribly friendly and went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable.

Overall I would say that beautiful Edensee delivers 100% on service and setting and is perfect for business travellers or those in search of peace and quiet. Nevertheless, it could really do more to maximise the natural resources available to it.

Room Tip: The "garden view" rooms look directly into neighbouring balconies less than 2 metres away.
