“Busy, smudgy, look somewhere else”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

We stayed 2 nights in this busy hotel located on streets with heavy traffic, and without doubt the location must be one of the most hectic in Dalat. There were invariably a lot of people hanging around in front of the hotel. The hotel had been booked for us, otherwise we probably would have not considered to stay here. The smudgy rooms are quite out-of-date. The blankets on the bed were too small and a bottom sheet was missing. So we awoke several times finding ourselves lying on the stained mattress….. We had a bath, however it took at least half an hour to fill it and it was impossible to empty is as the water flew from somewhere under the bath over the bathroom floor and there was a real danger that it would flood our room. Therefore we could only leave our room with the bath still full of water.
Breakfast was a special experience. In addition to hotel guests it seemed that bus loads of Vietnamese came to the hotel specifically to have breakfast. So upon entering the restaurant for breakfast at about 6.20 am (!!) it was already packed with people eating enormous amounts of noodles and other Asian food. Nonetheless, we were served a tasteful omelet. Taken together, it should be no big problem to find a more attractive hotel when you are considering to stay in Dalat.

We traveled to Dalat having had our travel agent book us into this hotel. Reading the reviews we were a bit apprehensive as they were not good. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised to find a brand new hotel. It looked as though it had just been finished as some things looked like they were finished in a rush. It was clean, big rooms and reasonably priced. The staff were helpful and friendly, although they didn't speak much English. The only negative is that it was right next door to a Karaoke bar, but a good set of earplugs sorted that out. We did have to walk down to Thang Loi ?5 for breakfast but this only took about 3 minutes. Some of their crockery could do with being replaced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back.

6 of us stayed in this hotel for 2 nights ,what a mistake one couple had a nice modern room the other 2 old rooms we did not pick this hotel it was part of a package that we did,i don't mind old rooms but the white net curtains were gray with dust there were cigaret butts on the window sills
the grout in between the tiles in bathroom was black with dirt this is a cleaning issue and should be delt with, the blanket on the bed was old and awful with no top sheet on the bed we took the blanket off and asked for clean sheets.next morning we went down for breakfast at 8.15 the staff were having there breakfast and were not impressed to see us a big group of Japanese tourists had just finished and i think they thought there was no more people for breakfast.we had a hard time finding a clean table and we could not find a cup without a chip or crack in it for our tea.we went to see what was left to eat and there was an omelet for each of us on the tablethat we did not order, we made some toast to go with it and they started to clear away what was left of the food.next morning when we met in the lobby they kept asking us when we were coming for breakfast but we told them we were not coming the boy shook his head and walked
away .we had breakfast in a lovely restaurant that we found the night before the owner even opened 1/2 an our earlier so we could catch out transport.the people at the desk were very nice and helpful..if this place had a good clean and new cups and plates it would not be so bad .i would not stay there again

The location of this hotel is unfortunately right on the busiest round about in Dalat which makes sleeping difficult if you don't have ear plugs.
There is no air conditioning in the rooms and even though Dalat is a cooler place than most of Vietnam the glass front on the building makes the rooms pretty hot.
The staff are particularly unhelpful and even refused us entry to the crowded restaurant at 6:00pm for some unknown reason as they don't speak any English.
It's not uncommon in Vietnam to not have a shower curtain or bath mats but the stink coming out of the bathroom was terrible.
Just to top it off on the day we left we returned from breakfast (up the road) to find the cleaning lady already in our room.

Room Tip: Try another hotel

Cost was $20/night for a delux room. This is my 2nd visit to Thang Loi 1 Hotel and I'm very happy. It is a big room measuring over 4 meters sq. plus balcony overlooking the street. The bathroom has hot/cold running sink and enclosed shower. Everything is new and bright. They have motorbikes at $6/day. Very nice staff. Super Clean Hotel.
