“Definitely NOT 4 star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012 via mobile

Pleasant staff, good location but that's it. Small rooms, not clean - found long black hairs all over the mattress! Bathroom had a bad sewerage smell & was only just clean. Carpets stained & worn. Beauty salon was a room with circa 1960 barber chairs- v uncomfortable . Sweet manicurist but not up to any standard, had to let her keep going cos I didn't want to embarrass her. Lucky it was inexpensive. Breakfast was terrible - poor quality food but good egg bar. Ok for a 2 star but absolutely not 4 star as they claim

We booked Junior Suite but the room was unavailable when we checked in so they upgraded us to a more expensive room at no cost. There was a sauna, spa and room was spacious and beautiful. Breakfast wasn't spectacular but not too bad. Staff was friendly.

What a great bargain and an excellent stay !!!!

Unbeatable view and location, overlooking the lake. Quiet sleep. Clean and well designed rooms. Restaurant and room service were acceptably good. Reasonably priced. I'm surprised it isn't better known/marketed. Overall, a cool place. I've stayed at other 4/5 star hotels in Dalat, but they don't compare in value.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms may be a bit quieter, but the lake view rooms really do have a stunning view of Da...

This is a pretty good hotel for the money. The INSIDE rooms, facing the garden are a must and make for a quiet stay.

This is a great hotel to explore dalat from. Perfect location, quiet, but just about 50m from the big lake. Rooms are decent and fairly priced. The food was generally ok and the service staff were efficient.

Transferred from saigon dalat as I wanted a hotel near the lake. Stayed here for a couple of nights. Hotel has no aircon in the rooms, bathroom was dark due to a broken light and had molds in the grout. Hot water still an issue as stated by previous reviews. Carpet seemed old and dirty. Hotel seemed older than website photos. Stay away from rooms at the back as carnival can be noisy at times. Food is good and cheap. Indoor garden is nice. Tour service is great. It would have been right for $ 40-45 a night.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2012

Although rated 4 star, this is really a 2 or 3 at best.

One of the few in Dalat with a pool, which is why I chose it for a 4 night stay. After reading about recent troubles with the hot water I sent 2 emails, but management did not answer.

Sure enough, the heater had only recently been repaired, and I was told it would take 3-4 days to heat up. By day 2 it was swimmable, briefly, but on day 4 they had turned off the heat, so it is unlikely it will ever be a warm pool. Since Dalat is a cool/cold place in winter (temps 15C), warm water is important. Yet 3/3 showers next to the pool were COLD. Our room did have hot water, but not enough for 4 of us to take showers. They turned off the light and steam while we were in the sauna. A mistake, but shows they are concentrating on cost-cutting.

We asked for 2 extra blankets, but were told we could only have one as they were fully booked (had we paid the extra $30 a night for an extra folding bed we would have gotten it I guess). The breakfast was pretty weak, only 8 hot items, and a toaster which did not work properly.

On the plus side: the staff were nice, and the location is very close to the lake. There is an old small theme park next door, and our sons loved the 17,000 dong go-cart rides. Massage for 45min was just 160,000 dong (but room was cold and noisy construction dominated the room as the CD player was broken, so in the end not such a great deal). We only paid $70 for 2 adults, plus an extra $7 for 2 children to each breakfast (via Agoda).

Can't say it was value for money though, and I got the feeling we could have either paid less for the the same quality. We spoke to some Brits and Aussies and they had similar views. Blue Moon is about 90% Vietnamese group tours, and has that "bargain package" feel to it.
