We stayed in Sala Phuket in early March for 3 nights on a B&B basis. The Sala Phuket picked us up from the hotel we were staying at in Surin (which was horrible) and I was glad to be leaving that hotel! We were greeted by very friendly staff who took care of all our needs. We booked a Pool Villa and I had e-mailed previously to request a Villa that had sun all day and this request was already taken care of. Check in happened in our room.
When the receptionist opened the door to our villa, my husband and I looked at each other and said “wow” and knew we had made the right choice to end our holiday. The receptionist showed us round our villa and made sure we knew how everything worked, unfortunately, the electricity was off all over the island, which was obviously no fault of the hotel but a very sticky couple of hours without a/c until it came on again! The pool villa was stunning and was great having your own pool that was a good size for swimming. The bed was slightly too soft for my liking but everyone is different and the bathroom outdoors was lovely!
The dinner on the first night was average and quite expensive in thai terms and no better than something you would pay only a few hundred baht for elsewhere however the food did improve throughout our stay although I would say the service got worse and we opted for in room dining at lunch in our villa as it was too slow for lunch. I do not mind a relaxing evening dinner but don’t want to spend the day sitting in the heat with the flies for my lunch, so this is an improvement that needs to be made. The in room dining was excellent quality and actually arrived quicker than a restaurant meal which I found strange.
The night of our anniversary the hotel decorated the bed and ran a bath for us then came along with a bottle of Prosecco free of charge which was a lovely touch.
The Sala Phuket offers beautiful accommodation in a beautiful setting. The service does need to improve to come up to the 5* quality. I would definitely return to the Sala Phuket but found the cost of drinks and food a bit on the expensive side even for a 5* resort.
