“Best beach in Phuket”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

This is our 10+ times returning to Phuket (Feb 2013) and we had been staying in different resorts on the west and east side of the island before. We were trying to find other beach that beats Bang Tao beach. Look no further. Bang Tao beach is simply the best particularly during this Feb. Although I'd been sting by jellyfish there a few years ago (the beach could be filled with that in some seasons, depending on the water current), I still think it is the best. The size, privacy, hotels / resorts, local shops and restuarants along the long beach etc are all in perfect balance & harmony.

“Forget about Patong”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

This long sandy beach is very scenic with its lines of Thai longtail fishing boats. Definitely a very relaxed and family feel to the beach, and much better for small children than Patong. The local restaurants are a good standard and reasonably priced too.

“Christmas 2012 nasty stings in the sea”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

The beach was really nice, clean, lots of places to eat, lots of places to buy things, the people selling stuff along the beach and walking by were not pushy. The beach loungers are cheap for the whole day and depending where you are you can also get service (drinks ordered and delivered to you).

The major downside for my trip was the sea, though clear, inviting and warm, also had invisible-to-the-eye, biting things. I got in the sea and started to swim and I felt a little sting, almost like a pin sticking in me. Then it carried on and on... lots of nips all over me. I had to get out of the sea super quick. It turns out these are Sea Lice... the larvae of a type of jelly fish. I never went in the sea again. Very disappointing as I would've loved to swim in the sea everyday but didn't want to get stung.

“a little over-crowded”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Bang Tao Beach is home to a number of Phuket's finest resorts and Beach Clubs. The southern end is littered with local long-tail boats which can be quite photogenic, but leaves a film of diesel on the water.
