I have just been in this hotel with my wife.
They take advantage from the guests right from reservation. We were forced to pay for a compulsory "Christmas gala dinner" because our reservation included December 24th. Price: 3,000 baht for a couple, not including beverages, which were equally expensive. The price is similar to a VERY nice restaurant in Bangkok.
We arrived at the hotel at noon. Check in was at 2 PM, so we went to the hotel's restaurant for lunch. Before leaving the reception, I asked if they already knew in which room we would stay, so that I could sign for the lunch costs. At the restaurant, one of the hotel's employees nearly put the kitchen on fire. Everything back to normal. My meal arrived half an hour after my wife had finished hers. Finally, by 1:50 PM we were back at the reception. At the same time a lady arrived for check out from the room that was assigned to us (check out was supposed to be at 12 PM, so they could clean the room and we could get in by 2 PM, the check in time). Our room was finally ready by 3:15. To compensate their delay in getting us a room, they told us that they had upgraded our room. Big lie. They upgraded our room because the one that would be assigned to us had a problem with the water pipes.
Knowledge of English language was very basic, probably limited to a number of "frequently asked questions" from guests. For any question other than usual stuff, we'd get a "yes" eventhough the staff had no idea what you were talking about. (My English isn't perfect, but I hope it's clear enough to help you understand the pitfalls from this hotel).
The room was a positive surprise. Very nice, decent space, bathroom, clean, and the best: a couple of steps from a very nice pool. However it had many mosquitoes and we had to buy a repelent. The air conditioning was also noisy, but it was not a big problem.
The "Christmas gala dinner" was definitely not gala. The hotel went out of food during dinner. As I mentioned, beverages were not included. Which is OK, but charging 100 baht for a glass Coke with mostly ice in it while other restaurants charge from 25 to 50 seems a rip off! The dinner included a "live band" which was neither band, nor live. A couple on stage just pretended to be playing anything. Everything was pre-recorded on a computer. Then came a show. (All of this part of the program for the compulsory and expensive 3,000 baht.) It was a Cabaret show. It would be inappropriate enough in any situation, but particularly offensive in a Christmas dinner full of children in a hotel that (as its folder says) is a "family hotel". Some families left in the middle of the dinner disgusted by the show.
We tried other meals at the hotel's restaurants. They followed the same (bad) pattern. On my last dinner, the waiter asked me 3 times what I was ordering. It was just a simple chicken with spaghetti. Fifteen minutes later he comes back and reconfirms my order. Another half an hour and my order arrives (again way after my wife had received hers). And what arrived was not what I had ordered, of course.
The day before our departure the front desk calls us in our room to ask what time we would check out. Keeping in mind that they only let us in the room after 3:15 on arrival, I would have given them a rude answer. My wife was more polite and simply said: check out is until noon, so we'll check out any time before noon. Next morning at 8 AM they call again and ask what time we would check out. I have already stayed in many hotels all over the world and I was never asked what time I would check out. Seemed like they wanted us out of the room very early, despite their delay when we checked in.
In summary, nice room and pool, terrible service, especially from front desk, restaurants and hotel manager. Service is definitely NOT up to the standards that would be expected from a hotel at this price range.
