“Clean, spacious, comfortable... but souless”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

We stayed here for one night due to a mix up with other accommodation (completely my fault!!!) and wanted to stay somewhere close to airport for an early morning flight.

The good news is that the accommodation was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. Fine for 1 night.

However this was probably the most soulless and bland hotel I've ever stayed in - I'm not sure what they were thinking when they built it? Certainly it was not to create any sort of holiday experience.

In any event, this place is fine for a one night or last minute accommodation but Phuket has literally dozens of great hotels to chose from - this is not one of them!

Dear Guest

Thanks for your comments on Tripadvisor and I am very happy to hear that our accommodation did meet your expectations and that you chose our resort in the first place. We are still in process of upgrading our facility to enrich the guest experience and as we speak design plans for the the resort in and outside areas, are in place and will commence shortly. As the resort was not originally built as such, the whole Team is committed to transform the beautiful landscaping and modern architecture to an even better leisurely place, where guest can relax and enjoy the gardens it is set in.

We sure hope to welcome you again in the future to show you our improvements and to experience the changes first hand.

Kind Regards

Andreas Korf

If you are traveling with kids who love water parks, then this is the resort for you. There are numerous pools, water slides and activities for the kids. The lines weren't long and they rode everything in the water park multiple times over.

There is a downside. The resort is very isolated from the rest of the island, and the taxi services are extremely expensive.

The food services were also lacking. There was a fire in the main kitchen, so many of our days were spent in cramped dining quarters. We also stayed over for the New Year's Eve dinner banquet. It was extremely expensive, but the entertainment was enjoyable. There was every kind of food available. And our kids will remember it forever.

In hindsight, I wish we would have split the 7 day stay into multiple chunks. Three days at this resort would have been fine, and we would have liked to explore other parts of the island.

We travelled two families with kids. We spent 6 days vacation in Phuket, so we choose this hotel for the first 3 days because of the water park. My 6 and 8 year old boys just loved the water park with many great slides and a lazy river.

The beach is nice but the airplanes flying over you ever 30 minutes was a disturbance. At the water park the airplanes were not heard and seen as it is localed slightly far from the airport.

It is just 15 minutes drive from the airport, so I thought I did a good choise after 15 hours travel and arriving at Phuket at midnight. The reception of the hotel is not so quick and welcoming but the facilities are good.

We got 2 rooms connecting with each other by a dining/sitting room, which was equipped with a kitchen, so it is very convinient for longer stay guests.

There are no shops in the proximity, so you have to take a taxi (about 20min and the hotel taxi can take you there and wait for 3 hours for just 30 dollars!) to the market near the airport, and there they have great shops, which sell cheap souvenirs, jewellry, hand made carpets, etc. There was one shop which sold Iranian hand-made silk carpets at a very reasonable price, as well Pashmina and silk shawls. Very much recommend to visit that store, called Unique Art store.

After 3 days we moved to Patong area, where the elders could enjoy entertainment and shopping.

Room Tip: The resort is big and the buildings are far from each other. If you are with kids and they want to g...

Although only 10 minutes drive from the airport (hear the odd plane landing or taking off which for us was no concern), this hotel is perfect to get the kids into the swing off things. The staff are friendly, the rooms are large and more importantly clean. We stayed 2 nights before heading to Patong and it was perfect. It gave the kids an introduction into language, food, local custom and for us, currency.
The water park is not the biggest but there is plenty for the kids to do and it took their mind off any travelling issues (sleep, food, time difference etc) Two nights was enough for us but the fantastic thing is the water park is in the complex and can access by foot in 2 mins. By the time we left the water park and we had dinner, the kids were ready for a good sleep so it worked perfectly. There are also two other great pools for the kids andf you are on the beach which was nice. Don't expect hustle and bustle or to eat many other places than the hotel.

Please accept appologies for the mistakes.

Location:
Close to airport, so you actually see windows of the plain and noise is horrible.
Part of the buildings are under construction/mantainance - so even in the those which are working the rooms are not in the best condition.
Water park - nice and the only one which actually worth the effort.
City - very far from pukhet and relatively expancive to get there or to other places. So pay more in the hotels near Pukhet, but save on transportation.
Food:
breakfast: very limmeted assortiment, lots of bugs, flyies, cats. far from 5 hotel experiance.
Rooms:
Delux rooms are so small - so fro two adults we had to upgrqade fro lugger one
the rooms are not clean, the towels were dirty. we had to ask for more water since the staff forgot to put it in the room.
Stuff:
Very limmeted English, not listening, not answering to the call from the room. Forgot to provide the service several times, so actually we went to tell them again and again.
IN general:
This is far from any Centara hotell we visited before.

Room Tip: don't take delux rooms - too small.

Dear Dany K

Thank you very much for your feedback here on Tripadvisor and we are happy to hear that the Waterpark did meet your expectations during your stay with us. Naturally I am concerned to read your other comments in regards of the Airport and service issues you encountered. We are indeed located close to the Airport hence the short transportation time to the Hotel and far away from the huzzle and buzzle you would find in Patong. As we are in the middle of the National Park here in Phuket, we are not at liberty to use all given means to eliminate all nature supplied insects or other, plus being located directly at the Beach and the surrounding park areas do harbor an interesting variety of wild life.

I am sorry to hear about the room size and our housekeeping department, and did address your comments already to my relevant department heads. To improve our Teams English communication skills, we recently hired a full time English teacher and sure hope we will see an improvement soon, however in general the Thai English abilities are better as in many other countries in SE Asia.

Again I appreciate your honest feedback, which certainly will help to re establish and re check our current procedures in place and we are all looking forward to welcome you back soon, to show that we are able to provide the high standards to the best offer of Thai Hospitality.

Kind Regards

Andreas Korf

Actually we bought the voucher from ENSOGO (THB3475) which mentioned that we got 1 night stay included breakfast and water park entrance fee so we booked since Jan2012 for this trip.

When we went there to check-in, there are almost 20 persons were waiting for check-in BUT they have just only 2 receptionists to handle. Someone kept chasing them to hurry up coz she was waiting for 2 hrs to get the room. i was surprised but suddenly one of the receptionists came to us and bring us to check-in and then bring us to our room. Our building is quite far from hotel facilities(walk around 30 mins) i.e. dinning room, main swimming pool, beach etc. The room is like condominium. There are 1 bedroom with balcony, 1 bathroom, 1 living room with kitchen. when we was there, the housekeeping staffs were still working with annoying noise and yelling chatting across the side of building. No toothbrush were prepared again!!! Poor quality of water also. i've never thought that i could see this from luxury hotel like CENTARA.

At Lunch time, we decided to go to the water park which we've just known that every guest stay here could get in for FREE. In the restaurant, the staffs (3-4persons) was standing at the cashier and saw us sit at the table BUT did nothing, Just looked and chat. No one gave me any menu, i have to pick it up by myself even they were looking at me and i have to walk to them to order the foods by myself again. (On the other hand, when the foreigners came the staffs almost ran to them to get the menu and orders, HOW DIFFERENT IT IS !!!).

After lunch we decided to go outside for our sightseeing. We came back around 5pm and decided to get into water park BUT at 6pm all staffs in the waterpark shut down everything. We was surprised coz we were informed by the reception that it will close at 8pm. So we drove back to the beach to watch the sunset and then back our room.

Ps.1 : We were not informed that the minibar is FREE from the reception again.
Ps.2 : i quite like this room coz it's quite big for the lowest category.

Room Tip: Villa is close to hotel facilities than others.

Dear Khun Tagolover

Thank you very much for your feedback provided and I am very sorry to learn that you did encounter these challenges throughout your stay with us, which naturally is not acceptable. I would greatly appreciate if you could contact myself on gmcgwp@chr.co.th or my Executive Assistant Manager, Khun Dechanont on eamcgwp@chr.co.th to discuss your comments further. Certainly at peak times, our guest might encounter a slight delay in check in, however a 2 hour wait has not brought up to my attention, as we then would upgrade automatically to a higher available room category to serve our guest quicker. We do indeed have a extensive landscaped area and for the inconvenience we offer a buggy service for all our guests, however all buildings are not more than 15 minutes apart by walk. Our Waterpark has always been open till 6pm and the minibar, as in most international Hotels is not free of charge and I wonder where this information is coming from and sincerely looking forward to your feedback to help us to eliminate this from happening again in the future. Please be assured that we as a Thai owned International chain, do not make a difference by ethnic background and we look after all our guest with the same high level of service. We will certainly look into this matter to see what might have be the reason for your waiting time.

Again I and my Team again apologize, that we were not able to meet your expectations on your current stay with us and hope to hear from you.

Kind Regards

Andreas Korf

The beach is so great, clean and privacy. The Splash jungle is so fun but close a bit early. The hotel is so great and overall we satisfy with everything.

However, one negative comment is that the building in which I stayed is on maintenance. They are doing floor maintenance on the first floor and in front of the elevator. They did not put any sign or properly defined the working area, so it was a bit messy all the hallway and noisy too.

So I suggest that you should check with them which building you will be in during making a reservation. Try to avoid the one which is on maintenance!!
