My title says it all. If you want to be close to animals you won't get any closer than this. We just walked around and say that most of the animals were in good healthy condition and often they would come right up to the side of the cage to say hello. In other zoos there are "insurance compliant" walls to keep you far away from everything here you see it all up close. The highlights for us were sitting tiger cubs, feeding fish directly to the cutest otters, talking to a curious red kite, cawing with the crows as they were funny, sitting quietly next to a full size asian tiger that was in a cage. We sat and waited as we saw him and he saw us. After about 5 minutes he sat right next to us and put his head up against the bars as he wanted to be petted like any feline would. Of course we were safety conscious and would not put a hand in as it would be gone in a moment if you were stupid but a finger scratch on the head of a tiger was still more than enough. He squinted like a house cat does from the joy of a good scratch. We did'nt get to see any shows as we were entertained by the animals enough. My partner and I were well satisfied with this experience and if it wasn't for the crappy thai pop music in places and the fact that there isn't enough cleaning staff it would have been rated excellent. If you are a whinger... don't go.
