I have eaten here several times since Manu, a high-spirited, pastis-swigging Frenchman, and his Thai wife Su moved their little restaurant from the Sunee Plaza area to East Pattaya, close to my home. The food is authentically French, lovingly prepared and served, and amazingly low-priced. Salade nicoise, escargots, moules, magret de canard, onglet de boeuf - these are all perennials on their small menu, supplemented by daily specials such as carpaccio, beef tartare, kidneys or simple, delicious hamburgers. Most starters are priced at under 100 baht and main courses at under 200 baht. The wine is cheerful and cheap. Sunday afternoons, they barbecue whole fish, steaks (rib-eye or tenderloin), prawns, chicken and sausages, served with salad and their home-made French fries. Good espresso coffee and loads of both Gallic and Thai charm round out the experience.
