we have visited pattaya 46 times now and many of those times we at the woodlands .i was in pattaya working for the thai tourist board making a video i stayed at most hotels in pattaya from the big to the small. but i got to say the woodlands is the best the staff are amazing the attension to detail was also noticed if you go ther ask for bell boy G AND SAY TREV SAID HI .GO THER PROMISE YOU WONT REGRET IT .I AM ILL AT THE MOMENT BUT HOPE TO VISIT WOODLANDS AFTER CHRISTMAS IF IM BETTER . AS THE MANAGMENT TELL ME ITS MY SECOND HOME THE FOOD CHEAP AND SO NICE THE STAFF ARE THE BEST ALWAYS SMILLING HOW THEY USE TO MANY YEARS AGO THEY HAVENT FORGOT HOW TO SHOW THAT FAMOUS THAI SMILE WRITTEN BY TREVOR I. Pattaya is no longer the best location to stay in this beautiful country, however, we always come back to the Woodlands since 2000. Its so well managed by a Family run concern. We love this place and we come back purely for the hotel rather than the location. Through my travels I can tell you - dont go for Stars - go for Value. You can only fly so high.

Although Pattaya is a place where we definitely won't come back, Woodlands is the place we would very much like to visit again.
We booked deluxe pool room at the Woodlands hotel, but when we arrived, they upgraded us because we were told that the room is been renovated. So, we have got a suite in the Woodlands suites, which was new, nice furnished and very, very clean. The whole time I had the feeling that everything was so clean that nobody had ever touched anything before I did. They clean the suites twice a day. They are quick and effective. Three housekeepers - besides in the morning - come again in the evening and they do the dishes, make the bed (putting mint on the pillow) and change the towels again (two times in a day). The room has lcd TV, DVD, fully equipped kitchen, bath tube and shower. The thing that surprised me the most was the luggage room/closet with a scale and iron set. Bathrobes and slippers were very nice and comfortable and the sheets too. The balcony has a beautiful view to the small but nice and clean pool.
We had breakfast included and I can say that I was impressed. Maybe not so much with the diversity of food, but the fact that no matter when you come to eat, everything looked untouched. They keep the food coming so you will never notice that something is missing which is very nice when you are not an early riser.
The gym is small but nice, clean and it has the basics. I exercise a lot, but I think that that is more than enough for the gym in the hotel where people are mostly on their vacation.
All the staff was very helpful, very nice and in my opinion the hotel could be given one more star.

we stayed at the woodlands residences for 13 nights from 21st July 2008. the residences are a new block of hotel rooms built next door to the woodlands resort and connected by a gate between the properties.

basically there are 70 apartments arranged on 7 floors. the rooms are beautifully furnished in a modern, minimalist fashion. the rooms have a fridge/freezer, large flat screen tv, dvd theatre system, microwave and a two ring hob. there’s a good wireless internet connection, however the complimentary allocation is only two hours per day. this doesn’t constitute the advertised “free internet access”. they need to change the policy or the advertising here.

the attached grappa restaurant, where we had an inclusive breakfast each morning was definitely a high point, great food served by some really fantastic people. there’s also a nice modern gymn with 3 pieces of cardio equipment, small multigym and free weights.

the one thing that really struck me was what a great job they’d made of making the place look great on the website. the medium sized pool is actually bordered closely on two sides by a 7 storey apartment complex. on the other two sides there’s a close high building and a close high wall. it’s a nice area but the sun is lost behind the block at 1pm and there’s 25 or so sun beds for lots of apartments. it wasn’t a problem for us as occupancy was low but i imagine this will become an issue. the woodlands resort pool next door was a nice escape with more room and longer sun time.

the other disappointment was the beach, 200 yards down a road.....no facilities, dirty and patrolled by stray dogs

overall we had a great stay, the good points significantly outweighed the bad.

internet access limit, small and enclosed pool area, beach scene, surrounded by girlie bars..but then most of pattaya is like this.
