“Mosquito infestation - stay away”

Woodlands Resort Pattaya

A complete nightmare, avoid this hotel.

We arrived at the hotel at 1pm, was not seen to until 30 minutes later. No one acknowledged us, no welcome drink or even a welcome at all. We sat in reception and got bitten so badly by mosquitos whilst waiting to check in it was unbelievable.

We checked in the rooms, these were very nice until you got in the bed, which you shared with the mosquito's. Could not open the balcony doors as there is a warning sign - yes you guessed mosquito's.

The grounds/pool are lovely but you cant spend time in them as you will be bitten by mosquito's.

Breakfast is fantastic.

On checking out, they do not let you go until they have checked each and every inventory in the room - leaves a sour taste!

Location - terrible location, in the seedy part of Pattaaya, no good restaurants nearby so need to go to the main part.

Hotel food is excellent though.

We checked out early as it was not worth us ruining our holiday.

All in all, the brochures are not a true representation of the hotel and even though the grounds are lovely you cannot explore as there are too many mosquito's. They have so many plants all over the hotel but they do not invest in keeping the mosquito's out. I have stayed at many hotels with similar grounds but never had such a problem with the mosquito's. We had to purchase their mosquito spray, which was half empty when given to us. They cut to many corners.

Also not very safe, we went as a group and had two rooms, very often we got our keys muddled up but after several attempts we were able to open each other's doors with the wrong key. Also the hotel is not well lit and in the nights it does not feel very safe walking around. They have only one security guard and really anyone is allowed to come in and out as they please.

Just to say I am not very picky when it comes to hotels and very rarely have complaints but feel you should read this before booking as it easily can ruin your holiday and more importantly you do not feel safe at this hotel in the nights.

“Loved Woodlands”

Woodlands Resort Pattaya

Choose to stay at Woodlands while I was attending Cobra Gold and did not regret any seconds of it. This place is really cool and so much different from the bigger hotels around where some of my colleagues were staying. Facilities, food, room, breakfast…etc was perfect, as well as the staff: really nice and friendly, make you feel welcome. But the best of all was the front desk as I discovered that one afternoon I had left my backpack in one of the local taxis. I tried without success to find it. Inside I had my wallet, a new pair of prescription glasses, my military ID, Ipod…etc. Stressed out and disappointed I returned back to the hotel after my search and told my story to the front desk staff and then they took description of bag, taxi and driver. 3 hours later my bag was back with its full content! Thanks so much to the front desk whom have handled the situation very professionally, with utmost sincerity and care. I think the staff action on the matter speaks volumes about the overall excellent staff and resort. I will not hesitate to recommend to all my friends and colleagues to stay at Woodlands in the future. Thanks a million!

“Nice quiet resort ( when construction next door is completed in a few months)”

We stayed at Woodlands six nights in mid march 2008.
We were three seniors in our sixties in 2 rooms.
Upon arrival, we asked to change rooms as we were to close to the construction next door. They did immediately. We ended up in unit No 3 at the far end, just beside the second pool.1st floor.
Very pleasant two minutes walk to restaurant and lobby.

We loved our stay at the resort. Room size OK and clean.(Only one mosquito considering Woodlands is very lush, but we made sure the door was always closed). We were not bothered by insects at all.
Lots of hot water , and A/C worked well. Excellent room service.
Very safe area, and the resort is well protected by a big fence/wall. Good size electronic safe was very handy.
One of us used the Spa services and was very satisfied.

Buffet breakfasts were excellent with excellent choice. Cooks for eggs, omelettes and pancakes. All we wanted to eat and more was available.

The property ( buildings, lobby, gardens, pool) is top notch, and
the people at the reception are excellent . Two good size pools are available with plenty of chairs and shady spots if needed (trees and umbrellas). Loved the warm water.

Their saturday nite buffet was excellent.

La Baguette (just outside the lobby by the street) was our favorite spot for lunch and our late evening ice cream or pastry treat.. This is Paris in Pattaya c/w French music and excellent service.

The resort is well located close to the traffic circle, leading to
the key areas of activities, shopping and restaurants.Cheap transportation by songthaew or taxi is omni-present. Many german pubs in the area.

Customers at the Woodlands were, I guess, 40% from Germany, 40% from Russia, 10% Japaneese that week.

The resort is a very quiet place. We had choosen the place to avoid staying in a big hotel, and we were not disapointed.

The negatives;

As Woodlands use energy savings light bulbs, rooms are on the dark side to read.

Woodlands is not for the beachgoers. It takes 7 or 8 minutes
walking a hot side road and with garbage in open lots
and a "right in your face" dump near the Best Western hotel as we approach the beach. Then you go down the equivalent of a three story building to a rocky and narrow beach. Not a pretty sight at low tide. BY FAR OUR BIGGEST DISAPOINTMENT.
(We're used to Florida, Mexican,Varadero and New Jersey beaches)

The tour offered at the hotel for Coral Island was the biggest tourist trap of our three week trip in Thailand.Three and a quarter hours at the beach for a nine hour trip. Warning: Avoid it
if your not agile ( lots of boat hoppings and unsafe) or too old.
Noisy with jet-skis, boats and vendors.

Conclusion:
Beside the beach issue in Pattaya, we all liked it.

I visited this hotel with my boyfriend for the first time last year and was oh so impressed!. To think of all the hustle and bustle going on outside of the hotel and just how quiet it is inside. This year was my 50th birthday, and my boyfriend asked where I would like to go that was extra special. I must admit, it did not take a lot of thinking about! Woodlands was my choice. The staff are very professional, and keep very very busy (although you'd never know they are there, they are so quiet!). We had a deluxe room this year, and well, what can i say? The whole place is absolutely spotless and first class without a doubt. Service cannot be faulted in any way shape or form. Buffet breakfast was first class, as was all the poolside meals that we had. (Must say, they mix a mean cocktail too!!) It feels like you have the whole hotel to yourself. Absolutely wonderful. Just like 'Arnie', i'll be back!!!

“Quiet relaxing experience”

Woodlands Resort Pattaya

Mar 11, 2008

I stayed with my husband and 4-month old son at Woodlands over the Chinese New Year - high season. We had the suite which was very nice furnished and practical.
Hotel provided a baby cot, but not a moskito net (so be sure to bring one for a baby yourself). We arrived very late at night, staff was greeting us very warmly and check-in was done within a few minutes.
Throughout our stay we enjoyed the relaxing time at the pool which was even though it was high season quiet.
Breakfast buffet in the morning was excellent, as is the attached bakery.
