“New'ish Hotel, Great Infinity Pool, Tiny Gym”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2011

Stayed here twice; and would switch to the Marriott in Pattaya for my next stay.
New hotel, less than a year old; great design concept but the construction and finish is already starting to look scuffed and show its age.

First off - the pool is awesome. Its a saltwater infinity pool that looks over the bay. Beautiful sunsets.

Some Pro's & Con's from my recent stays:
Pro's -
- Fantastic location above the Central Mall - choice of Cinema's, Restaurants ,etc without leaving the hotel.
- Nice design concepts in the lobby and the bar area.

Con's
- Hot water takes ages to come through.
- Multiple 2-way switches throughout the room are confusing.
- Towels a bit ratty.

As for other comments from travelles:
a) Yes, there are a lot of "sexpats" and "professional ladies" in Pattaya... along with the whole industry that supports this lifestyle. Don't plan a "family vacation" here if it bothers you.

b) Staff Attitude - this depends on you look as well. If you look well dressed and smart, you get treated well. If you look scruffy.... same-same.

Room Tip: As for a corner or "end" room that has the best views of the ocean.

We are two couples from Hong Kong and have ever stayed there between 9/4-9/6.
This is definitely a hotel we would recommend. Rooms are clean and quiet. Service people are nice and friendly. More important, it is just next to Center Festival, a fantastic complex with lots of restaurants of many different styles. We all enjoyed very much during the time we stayed there.

Room Tip: Sea view always

Stayed 7 nights in Executive Room. Frequently stay in Hiltons throughout Asia & Europe.

Do not recommend Pattaya:
- to families. Prostitution is obvious even during the daytime when you see hookers touting in the streets and with their clients in shopping malls, at the cinema and even around the hotel (at the pool, in the lifts, at breakfast etc).
- if you want peace and quiet - it's a city that never seems to sleep!

Tips
- take earplugs - even on a high floor (with double glazing) you can hear stray dogs howling, sirens, loud speakers, music, vehicles hooting etc.
- if allergic to dust take inhaler

Pros:
- seaviews throughout hotel
- staff: all friendly and helpful particularly Executive Room team; "Flare" restaurant team and pool team (especially Tan who works very hard)
- good quality food, selection and service especially at "Flare" (except for the food in the temporary Executive Lounge area - see "Cons")
- good room design, especially welcome was the easy access to the safe (except drawers and balcony - see "Cons").
- easy access to best shopping centre in Pattaya with many shops/cafes/restaurants/cinema/bowling alley....

Cons
- room facilities: lack of proper drawer space, small balcony with only one chair, no coffee machine.
- room condition "tatty" - marks on walls, floor, worktops. It's not aging well.
- room cleanliness: dirty - tea-stains, previous occupant's hairs, stains on relaxing chair cushion, small ants on desk and lots of dust especially on the glass partition which never seems to be cleaned
- noisy (see "Tip" above). In addition to street noise you can also hear the sounds of hotel refurbishment (drilling, hammering etc). We were informed on arrival, by letter, it would be 10-5pm Mon-Sat but we heard it before 8am a couple of mornings. Also loud music in lifts,
poolside nearest building, at the "Edge" restaurant even at breakfast, at "Drift".....there seemed no escape!
- worst selection of food (in temporary Executive Lounge at "Drift") I've seen in 40+? Hiltons. Hopefully this will improve now that the proper lounge has reopened.
- Reception: painfully slow check-in and "supposed" issue with credit card mid-way through stay (there was no problem)
- Business Centre: poor customer service
- problems with wi-fi
- shortage of sun-beds poolside
- inconsiderate behaviour of other guests: foul language, playing of own music pool-side, demanding service when staff member obviously mid-way through serving another customer, pushing by, walking barefoot to pool-side toilets creating dangerously slippery conditions for others, not wearing swimwear in the spa jacuzzi area.......

Room Tip: Higher the better for views and to get away from the street noise.

On the way in to Hilton Pattaya, I passed by many beer bars where many Thai women were sitting with white men. made me wonder was this more of a bar area ?
anyway, luckily my kids are young so they dont know what is going on. I would usually book a hotel with the best ratings in TripAdvisor but this was booked by my husband.
Entry into the hotel is weird, everything is white, the staff are not so friendly and they dont give you the warm welcome that other hotels give you.
We had to take the lift to the 16th floor, and then walk a bit more to another section to take another side of lifts. At the reception, they only have 4-5 kinds of cookies for their high tea time,
Room was an Executive room, but no WIFI.I brought my laptop down to the 16th floor again, and saw that the plug points were different.I find Pattaya very boring, and its better to be in Bangkok if you are with a family.
The beach was right infront and we went for a walk. My little one saw a seat and sat down and a man there told him that we had to pay 20 baht to sit down. Ridiculous !

Seem more like a prostitution street there.

Breakfast wasnt great. No apple juice, the exec lounge is crappy too.I called for a complementary bed at 8.15pm and it was delivered 1 hour later ,after many calls to the reception.

The hotel is located directly at the beach road, which makes for nice views, but if your intention is to sleep, don't expect to get any. Part of the hotel is located directly at a very noisy side street, where until deep into the night the bars are playing very noisy music. The sound proofing is not proper for a international hotel, especially when build new like this.

As I was for a business trip here, the lack of space in holiday facilities due to the fact that the hotel is build on top of a shopping mall, did not bother me, would have been too tired anyway, as i would have to make up for lost sleep during the day.

Breakfast selection, was as expected from an international chain, but could have been a little more creative. Probably should have had a larger selection of asean and Indian selection, as for them the choices were small.

If you do have to stay here, ask to have the side away from the beer bar.

Room Tip: away from the noise!

Location is great. The hotel is very stylish and has great ocean view everywhere - in the rooms, the lounge, the pool, and the restaurant. Still, it was a bit of a let down, comparing to the expensive room rate that we paid.

Had a bad impression at the start. We booked executive rooms and specifically requested for connecting rooms. However, upon arrival the request was not even recorded and there was no connecting rooms left. The hotel did not compensate in any way. In the end we got the rooms opposite to each other.

I love the rooms. They are definitely comfortable, spacious, and luxurious. Every room gets the ocean view. One problem we found is that we could hear the noise from the pool even though we stayed 10+ floors above.

Breakfast buffet was great. The restaurant is very nice. The swimming pool is way too small to accommodate hotel guests. Also, while the lounge has a superb view, it was crowded and noisy with visitors continuously coming up to check the view and take pictures.
