“Not the real thing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

If you have been to the real floating market outside Bangkok, you will quickly realise this is a very feeble attempt to duplicate something unique. Some of the stall holders were sleeping in the shops. You could buy any of the merchandise in Central Festival. Not worth the effort in my opinion

“We walked away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

This is a market - selling stuff to people and they wanted an entry fee - we walked away. Probably good for them for the heaps of busloads that have no choice.
We walked away.

“Floating Market”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Over rated. It is essentially a series of shuttered concrete canal ways with filthy water and you get taken in a boat along them to shops trying to sell you tourist souviners. There are things that are very good in Thailand, including the character of street life, with food carts pamping their horns at you etc, the friendly ness of the people, and of course, the bar and AGoGo scene, the open air markets, NOT the tourist ones selling trinket rubbish, the true markets for Thais. Things that are very bad however, include the "ancient city" type of venues, just completed last week in concrete with steel rods, and this thing called the floating market. Don't waste your time. Go to a traditional open air market instead, where they are selling live animals, and all manner of things, that you will find fasinating and far more rewarding an experience. Be cautious however not to end up at a " sell the tourist junk" type of places. It is the same the world over, there are wondrous things and places to visit, but you have sometimes to avoid the " cons for tourists" and the " sell rubbish to tourist" traps.

“Something around every corner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

We had been told by friends it's a must see in Pattaya. But it's definitely a major tourist attraction, food looked good as for souvenirs the beach and streets are cheaper. Glad we went to have a look.
