“Well worth the visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

I was very impressed with my visit to Big Buddha. Athough work is not yet completed it is still an amazing attraction. No fee to visit although you can donate to the works if you wish. We did not feel any pressure to donate and if you prefer you can buy a souvenir and money from that is also used to help with the construction.

“Nice View of Pattaya Harbour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

The Big Buddha should be on the list of "must see" sights in Pattaya. The walkway up to the Big Buddha has huge, multi-headed dragons on either side. At the top you also get a nice view of Pattaya from the top of the highest hill. The surrounding area is all parkland and popular with joggers in the early morning and late afternoon, when it is cooler.

“Go early and make merit before the tour buses”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

This is a proper place of worship and should be viewed as such. My Thai friends and I generally went before 8 to make merit and get a blessing from a monk, the monks there are very good and tolerant of the disregard so many tourists have for his site, skimpy bikinis, crawling all over the Buddhas for that tourist shot and wearing shoes where you shouldn't are just a few of the indignities dished out here.
Most people either don't know or don't care, probably the latter, but you should, you don't care about Thai culture, you shouldn't bother coming here, have another round at the breakfast buffet... If you care, come and make merit, it's easy, cost you 20 baht for a donation, and show some respect, the monks will love you for it and talk to you, they are lovely, tolerant people.
The views over the city and ocean are impressive and the breeze is generally cooling.
it's a beautiful place to reflect, and as someone else mentioned, there aren't many Wats in Pattaya, outside yes, but in the city two or three I think.

“It's a Big Buddha.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2014

It's a unique religious attraction in Pattaya, which is devoid of an abundance of temples. There's the Big Buddha, and it's surrounded by other representations of the Buddha. It has a great view of the city. Worth getting up there early, before all the tour buses arrive.
