Awesome place!
I chose Sandalwood because of the (virtually) 100% five star reviews. Everybody seemed to have a great time there and I to be honest I because there are so many sterling reviews I had no qualms at all about booking. We were not disappointed.!!
We stayed for two weeks (yes.....soooo lucky) for our annual "chill out" holiday which we always take in November. Having been to Thailand on 6 prior occasions I knew it is in the middle of the rainy season but we were actually very lucky...and didn't get much at all. If it rains in Thailand it usually stops after 30 minutes.

Anyway...on to Sandalwood. I must apologise for forgetting names...I really should have written them down... We were collected at the airport by one of the drivers...very friendly. 20 minutes later he was carrying our bags to the villa. We were met with a gorgeous smile and given a refreshing drink....and then taken to Lotus Villa. This sleeps 4, I was happy to pay extra as staying 2 weeks - we wanted the space.....and spacious it certainly was! Very clean, very comfortable and has EVERYTHING you could possibly need. The infinity pool, next door was a joy to float in. Not big enough to do any serious swimming but, hey, I was here to chill out, not to exercise. The views from the pool (and our villa) were spectacular.

All the staff were VERY friendly and helpful. Poon (the owner, i think) runs a good ship and the staff certainly go the extra mile to help....even anticipating what I might need for various excursions we had planned. It really was customer service at its best.
Sandalwood is on top of a very steep hill. I wouldn't like to have walked up (or down) it.....but of course the upside to that is that because it is so high.....the views are awesome. We were there 2 weeks and hired a car on the first day (most people use mopeds but as I have NO experience at all on them and Koh Samui has more pot-holes than anywhere I've been....a car was the only option for me). Poon very kindly gave me 50% discount on the car...probably because we were staying for two weeks....so don't expect that as the norm.

Breakfast was nice...and especially being able to have it served on our balcony every day...made us feel very special. Unfortunately we didn't try the restaurant at night (even though we had 2 free vouchers)....we just wanted to visit every nook and cranny around Samui.

We kind of knew what to expect on Samui, even though we hadn't been before. I thought it would be a good mix of good nightlife with quiter spots if we wanted...and thats how it is. It's currently (November 2009) suffering from the global recession...its just beginnig to hit Thailand. It's been built up in a ramshackle sort of way in recent years....and by all accounts it has lost some of its earlier charm BUT...we loved it. Two weeks and we never got bored...the car helped...and we were able to visit all the tucked away coves...the quiter beaches...the nightlife in Lamai and Chewang..and for quieter nights just a leisurely drive to a recommended restaurant. I really loved it...perhaps a bit more than Mandy (the Mrs) but she had a great time too. I'm sure we'll be going back some time in the next ten years to see how Samui has progressed.

It was an exceptional experience for us at Sandalwood and we both can heartily recommend it for either a short stay....or a much longer one.

So thanks must go to Poon, Au, M, Taexxx, the two girls in the spa (GREAT massages!) and EVERYONE else whose names I have forgotten at Sandalwood. We hope to see you again in a few years.

Well where do i start?? How can you really put into words the experience we had at Sandalwood Villas. The room, The staff, The owner, The views,The spa,The food everything was absolutely amazing. We spent our honemoon on the 14th of November 2009 for 12 nights in the Plumeria room. I really would like to say it was awlful so know one finds out about it but i would feel so guilty. The room was just perfect in every way. Cant wait for our next trip to there. I will miss everyone dearly from Sandalwood. The staff become part of your family and all those beautiful smiles make it so much more pleasant. Really hope to see you all again soon.
Warms regards
Steve & Monica

My husband and I had a fantastic stay at Sandalwood and can't wait to return. We stayed in Jasmine, which was a beautiful villa with a gorgeous view from the balcony. Even though this was one of the less expensive villas probably due to the fact that it is for 4 people max (it has a loft room which would be perfect for a family of 4 - 2 adults/2 children) and there is no jacuzzi on the balcony. However, it was next to the pool/reception area which was convenient and quiet and it had one of the best views of the coastline. We asked to be shown round some of the more expensive villas which were all lovely but we would probably stay in Jasmine again as it was perfect for the two of us and we are not bothered about having a jacuzzi. We had most of our meals in the hotel's restaurant because the food was so yummy and delicious !! And some of the best we had in Thailand. The spa was lovely and our package included 5 fantastic treatments each so we had a one almost every day. The staff were amazing and were constantly checking that we were enjoying our stay and everything was to our liking. The staff really made it special for us and we were sad to say our goodbyes at the end of the trip - we knew them all on a first name basis by the time we left. We only hope to return and see them all again! We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone wishing for lots of relaxation and quiet time. It is a bit out of the town but this is not a problem with the free shuttle service that Sandalwood offers and to be honest, after experiencing the nearby towns we would not want to be located there as it is definately not as nice. This place is outstanding and worth every penny - we can't wait to go back!!! A BIG BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE LOVELY STAFF AT SANDALWOOD!!!

I don't know where to begin as there is so much I want to write about Sandalwood. It's not a resort it's paradise. If you want to have the best holiday you have ever had, go to Sandalwood. You will be pampered and treated like a King and Queen. My husband I spent 12 glorious nights there in Nov/Dec 2009 for our 2 year wedding anniversary and it was the best holiday we have ever had. We wish we had stayed here for our honeymoon! The rooms are just amazing, the staff are brilliant and the views are breathtaking.

From the moment we arrived to the time we left, the staff at Sandalwood took care of all our needs. They booked our day tours, reserved restaurants, drove us anywhere we wanted to go and just made us feel so important and cared for. It truly is like a family there. I wish i could be back there. My husband and I are already discussing and planning to go there again for our next holiday. We stayed in Jumpee, Amarin and Orchid rooms (as they were fully booked out so we had to split up our stay in order to be there) it was great as we got to experience the different rooms and have different views each time. All three rooms were fantastic, Amarin was my favourite. We also had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners, Robert who was such a great friendly person and gave us such wonderful information about Thailand and places to go in Koh Samui. He made us feel so welcome.

Upon our arrival, Taeng showed us around the resort and to our rooms and gave us such wonderful information. She is such a beautiful, friendly, gracious, lovely person and gives you all the time in the world and makes you feel confident that she will take care of all our needs (which she always did). I am so thankful to Taeng for all her time and dedication, she really helped make this a dream holiday. Other key persons were Joy and Pon who made sure everything was running smoothly and always so friendly. Yom and all the other drivers, were always so friendly and so patient. The restaurant staff were just wonderful, so friendly and so hospitable. The food was AMAZING. We ate at Sandalwood restaurant many nights and dined on our deck a few times also. So brilliant!

The girls in the spa are just unbelievable! They are so talented! I went and had a treatment almost every single day, from massages, to body scrubs to manicures, they did it all and so professionally.

Basically, to sum it all up, i would highly recommend you stay at Sandalwood Villas if you want amazing value for money and the best romantic holiday of a lifetime. I guarantee you will want to return again and again and again.

We will be returning very soon!

We would put our stay at Sandalwood at or near the top of all the hotels that we have stayed at. The staff went out of their way to make sure our every need/request was met. The views from our 3 bedroom villa (Lewaladee) were spectactular. but it wasn't just the views, the food is excellent as well. We went to Chaweng beach for dinner one night and while it was good to do something different, the food was no where near the quality at Sandalwood. Given that there are only about 10 villas on the property, we were quite surprised at the extremely high quality of food. We spent a couple days in Bangkok and found the food very disappointing as well so Sandalwood made up for the lack of quality food elsewhere. If you go, make sure you get the pineapple rice, we had that almost every day!!!!

We have 2 small children and while we were the only family with children on the resort, but we felt very welcome and our kids well taken care of. If you want to enjoy resort life with small children, this is the place to do it. The even offerred to babysit the kids (which we didnt take advantage of). My wife raves about the spa also and the prices were very reasonable. They have a shuttle or taxi that can take you to Chaweng daily so if you need the beach or city life that is available.

If you are looking to party, i wouldn't recommend this property, it is more of a romantic, private place.

I've got no complaints!!! Sandalwood is a terrific value and we hope to come back and enjoy a stay in the future.
