Having spent a hectic few days at Bangkok we absolutely loved the beautiful resort set in a tropical garden right on Maenam Beach which was very quiet and perfect for a very relaxing holiday. Staff could not do enough for you and were really lovely meeting you on arrival with cold drinks and cold flannels which were very welcome in the heat! Our room had a balcony jacuzzi which was very nice, sun beds and relaxing chairs/table also on the balcony so you could easily spend time there very comfortably too. High standard of cleanliness and golf carts to transport you anywhere on the resort which was great for us as our room was up a steep hill! Garden & villa rooms are nearer the restaurant and pool area. The pool area is great offering a double level pool with bar (lovely to cool down in the upper area with the built in jazuzzis and the bar/pool staff were really nice and helpful. Restaurant food was very good and on par with UK pricing which therefore was much higher than local prices but probably matched this type of resort across the island. Every aspect of the resort including the restaurant overlooks the bay so that was really nice. The breakfast (in our case included in the room price) was excellent with plenty of choice. A short walk to the main road (approx 10 minutes) provided a few more food venues which were very cheap but easier to catch a taxi/bus to Bophut or Cheweng etc for further restaurant /shopping choices. It gets dark by 7pm so some would not like the walk back to the resort in the dark but it didn't bother us. Cheweng is very touristy/noisy but good for a change from the very relaxing atmosphere at Ban Laem. Be mindful that taxi prices are higher on Ko Samui than in Bangkok but still cheap compared to UK. We hired a car for the day at £15 from the hotel and easily covered the island during the day. A very small negative is the coral on the beach but beach shoes were provided and the pool area more than made up for this. Beautiful outlook over the bay from all of the resort. There are spa facilities at the resort which we chose not to use simply because the prices were very high compared to local prices which felt like a "rip-off" - this was a great pity and I think the resort should re-set their prices to encourage clients to use it more. A free shuttle is provided to and from Cheweng that has a range of massage facilities available at various prices so you can opt for a value for money massage or a more upmarket one very easily at least 50% cheaper than at the resort! Oh for anyone interested in playing golf the course not too far away looks really good - again quite costly to play compared to UK - approx £100 for the player and £50 for the non-player - but check out with the course because there are some weekday / late afternoon offers available that might suit including collect/return from your resort.
Be careful of booking this resort via Wired-Destinations as their exchange rate is very much in their favour and the final charge worked out at £66 extra for a 12 night stay.

  • Liked — Tranquility of setting and cleanliness
  • Disliked — Expensive spa / coral on beach

We stayed at Ban Laem Sai recently and it was amazing! Upon arrival, we were greeted with a signboard displaying our name at the lobby. It was unexpected and pleasantly surprising. They served us cold drinks and towels then took us on a tour of the resort on their golf buggy. The lady who checked us in also came into our room to show us where everything was located. We booked the Chalet Jacuzzi and it was amazing! I highly recommend this room. It is very spacious and nice. Jacuzzi is great!!! Balcony is big and bathroom is huge, with separate shower and bath. A plate of fresh fruits were placed in our room when we arrived. Every night when we were out for dinner, they turned down the bed. Breakfast was very delicious and the view was excellent. Service was good, staff very attentive. They are friendly and greet you if they pass you on the pathways. They provide free shuttle to Chaweng and back from Chaweng 3 times a day BUT you need to book 2 hrs in advance. We did not use this service but paid for the hotel taxi service. To Bophut and Fisherman's Village cost 400 Baht and to Chaweng it was 500 Baht for one way. Normally coming back from Bophut costs 300 Baht for taxis and for pick-ups that are converted to taxis, it is only 100 Baht. When we were walking along Fisherman's Village, they stopped and asked if we needed a ride. We took an umbrella from our room with us to Island Safari as it was raining but we forgot to bring it back. The resort did not even charge us! Wonderful service. We planted a plant from our room in the resort grounds and they took pics and made it into a postcard and CD for us. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring it back but the resort called us the following day and informed us they were posting it to us. They are just fantastic!! Thank you for making our holiday even more wonderful!!

  • Liked — Jacuzzi of course. Quiet, serene, relaxing. All you hear at night are frogs croaking, crickets and waves against the beach.
  • Disliked — Mosquitoes but not the resort's fault.

We have stayed at Ban Laem Sai two years in a row. It is a wonderful place to stay and relax after a long trip. We stayed here before moving on to the islands.

the service here is amazing. You feel so welcome, and everyone is tending to your every need.

the room we had both years was a jaccuzi/balcony-room. A huge room, with a king size bed. The second year they even wrote "welcome home" in flowers on the bed for us!

the bathroom is huge as well, with a walk in shower, and a lovely bath tub.

On the balcony, the viewis amazing - and laying therein out jaccuzi, watching the sunset - i have no words.

the place has a wonderful restaurant. they even have a great wine-list, something you wont find everywhere in Thailand.

The pool and the privat beach at the location is also kept perfectly clean and nice.

I will most likely come back to Ban Laem Sai, and I will recommend everyone else to do so as well.

It is not a place to stay for many weeks, as it will be a bit boring in the long run. But for a romantic getaway, ot just a few days relaxation, it is perfect!

This hotel is incredible value for money and was at the very top end of 4 star hotels. We stayed in a Garden villa which was beautiful and very spacious with a massive bathroom. The surrounding grounds are lush and green and the positioning of the hotel is perfect as its about 10 minutes from Chaweng and away from the main road so is very tranquil. The pool isnt the biggest but we always found that most people went to the beach so there was plenty of room around the pool. The staff were fantastic and were only too keen to help. We had a slight problem with our room on one night so they moved us straight away without any fuss. A big thankyou to the kind staff who helped make our stay very special.

I would definitely recommend this hotel if your coming to Samui and want relaxation.

Other reviewers had said it all. This is a great resort in any way. Outstanding service and nice rooms. The pool area is beautiful and it was no problem getting a sunbed whenever you wanted one. 2 large pooltowels and comfortable sunbeds.
The hotel is situated at the end of Maenam beach, the bad news is that the water because of the tide and corals is not clear so it is no good for snorkelling. The good news is that the beach is practically deserted.
The hotel bar/restaurant is pricey in thaiterms and all prices are subject to 10% tips and 7% tax. There is a small supermarket on the road from the hotel to the mainroad, 300 meters on your left hand side where you can buy water/beer/soft drinks very cheap.
Right next to the hotel restaurant there is a beach restaurant and 75 meters further there is one more, and they make great food for lunch/dinner to 1/3 of the price at the hotel.
The chalet rooms are up the hill, very good exercise but you have to be in good shape it is really steep.
Breakfast is nice and no queing.
The guest relations manager is european (norwegian).
The guest were international, german, scandinavian, finnish, russian, australian and chinese and so on. I have uploaded fotos and feel free to send me whatever question you may have.
It is a 8 minutes walk to the mainroad where you can have a taxi cheaper than through the hotel.
