“A little 'dated' but reasonably priced hotel for a Koh Samui holiday”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

This is clearly a 2* or at most 3* hotel/resort complex, more suited to a family 'budget holiday'. Comfortable & clean rooms with air con are classic old style Thai cabins which are a bit dark & dismal but functional. There are 2 good swimming pools, albeit heavily chlorinated (take swimming goggles!) which is useful as you wouldn't want to swim from the beach! Restaurant serves a basic breakfast & not particularly good food & the outside bar is fairly basic & over priced. Location is right in the middle of Fishermans Village, which has many other sea-front restaurants, bars, shops & a major street market on Fri nights. Staff are generally pleasant & helpful.

Room Tip: Best rooms are those close to the main swimming pool but larger family rooms are also available on t...

I really enjoyed our stay in this resort : staff was helpful and professional, and the Thai stylish bungalow was just great. Just have to mention that the Wifi access from the room was not properly working and I had to get to the reception to upload my professional emails. Also, the beach is marvellous but not adapted to kids (deep sea after 2 meters from the shore) : so they are all playing in the main swimming pool... Hopefully, there's a second pool, more quiet. Breakfast was huge and omelets delicious. Avery good value for money resort.

This hotel is good value for money ,the staff are very pleasant and the rooms are kept very clean, across the road is the restaurant for breakfast which is good and from there you reach the beach .I would recommend this for a value for money hotel.

Room Tip: Turn left when leaving hotel and walk for about 3minutes to find a small thai restaurant on the righ...

Stayed here last leg of our stay in Koh Samui. Surprised how spacious the resort was, just expected a few bungalows, but it is spread out in a gorgeous tropical garden, you would think you are in a jungle. Stayed in a two bedroomed family bungalow, wooden floors made it feel cool, air conditioning very good and good internet. Rooms airy and clean and bedding and towels changed every day. Nice verhanda with a fan to chill out in the evening with a drink, not overlooked.
Staff were lovely, continually busy, the pool area and gardens were constantly looked after. Our bungalow was at the rear of the resort and close to the rear pool, which was the best pool in the opinion of most of the guests we spoke to, saying that it was quite quiet as it was low season.
Breakfast was great, nothing like the reviews I had read, restaurant overlooks the beach, it was cool and spacious a lovely start to the day. A great range of breakfast , with a choice of egg dishes cooked to order, the omlette was very good.
Excellent location right on beach and just a walk to shops and restaurants and bars. Beach is long and sandy and the sea is the deepest we experienced on Koh Samui, no coral. Lots of dogs wandering Bo Phut around but all are friendly and there is amazingly no mess. We were adopted by one of the dogs during our stay and that added to the experience.
My one observation of Koh Samui is that there are lots of luxurious hotels but they are situated away from bars, restaurants etc. In fact one couple we met came to stay in Smile Resort and forfeit their five star hotel in favour of Smiles location, that I feel says alot. This is alot better than 3 stars in my mind.

Keep up the hard work, Smile Resort, we loved our stay and would return asap!!!

Room Tip: Choose bungalow at rear of resort to appreciate the lush gardens and take advantage of the close pro...

Great location, lovely gardens and pool areas. Amazing staff that give the smile to the the name. Breakfast includes bacon and freshly cooked eggs. We stayed in a deluxe bungalow for two nights but they were fully booked for the rest of the week. The deluxe bungalows are well worth the extra as they also include free wifi, which you only get in reception otherwise, and are bigger and more luxurious.

There is free parking on site and a great choice of quality bars and restaurants on the street where SHH is located, right on the beach

we had a week here, location is spot on, right in the middle of bophut, and footsteps away from the beach.
It has 2 beautiful swimming pools, and comfortable accomodation.
most the staff were very polite and helpful, and the cleaners were fantastic, done a wonderful job.
the grounds are very pretty, and very lush, with lots of plants and vegetation, there is a spa on the complex, however we went to tamarind springs!!!!! ; )
there are some great resturants in the area, and the friday night market is great, especially the little cocktail stalls!!!
breakfast was included and was a good selection and had varity...
i would recommend smile house for its location and class it as 3 *

Me and my family went to the fisherman s market ,we been walking for quite a bit and my kids were getting hot
So we decided to stop for a bit to eat and a drink at the smile house .All seemed ok but it was all a bit basic nothing flash .I ask for a stake medium rear ,which came out as thin as a slice of ham and tough as rubber .I won't go but my daughter had the spaghetti bolognese after she finished I had a mouthful and it wasn't very nice .It was quite late so we came back and went to bed .By the morning she had food poisoning ,it was horrendous and made a bad end to a lovey holiday.
So this is a review to be warned about this restaurant
