“Fascinating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

I wanted to come here as it is not every day that you get to see a real mummified monk! The monk, Loung Pordaeng, was wearing sunglasses and he was placed in a grand-looking glass box. Visitors can snap photos and also pay homage to him. What's interesting is that there is a row of sunglasses placed behind the monk in the glass box.

Just got some interesting info on the sunglasses from this website: http://www.thailandselection.com/attraction/The-Mummified-Monk.html

It is written there that "When his eyes fell into his head, the monks at the temple fitted him with some sunglasses." Now that answers my question on why the sunglasses!

We did not pay a fee to look or take photographs of the monk.

Tourists can walk around the temple but they have to adhere to the dressing code.

“Yes, you can even still see his hair”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

Interesting site to see-- not much really to tell if you have seen the pictures. The guide said there our others-- and i guess there was a documentary done to explain how it is is done.

About a 15 minute stop-- maybe a little longer if you want to get your fortune read.

“Most photographed :O)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Interesting to see & history behind it....not for the `squeamish` :O)
As he has no eyes...he has the `shades` on to hide the empty sockets.......very well preserved and he is `taken out` and re-dressed every year. Many pictures must be taken of him over the period of a year !!
