“Average food but nice view”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

We had our breakfast there for all morning during our stay in W. Like their concept of interactive buffet but to me not much choices are provided. Taste of food is average as well. However, I love how they serve milk and fruit juices in bottles.

“PRETENTIOUS. DON'T BOTHER”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013 via mobile

W gets so much right but the most simple things wrong. It's definitely worth going to W Samui just to look at the pool area which is spectacular - in spite of the ridiculously loud dance music that seems to suit a fraction of the people there. Actually W Samui is pretty unforgettable design-wise; the entranceway, foyer and pool area - but do yourself a favour and don't bother going downstairs to the kitchen table for dinner. It was not peak hour when I was there, maybe it is better when it's busy but the place has no atmosphere, an abundance of staff yet it's difficult to get service and the food is unimpressive although the menu tries very hard. I would say pretentious. And unfortunately the "dance party" music which pumps down from the pool area above manages to taint and already average dining experience. By all means go for a cocktail by or in the pool just to look at the design, But if you want any class, elegance or service, not to mention far less overpriced drinks, try Zazen down the road.

“Bewarned!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

I am a fan of the W Group in general, however I will never set foot in this one again.
At night, the bar pumps out dance music at almost nightclub decibels, although the seating arrangement in the 'pond' is pretty cool.
The restaurant underneath has no romantic attraction about it. Having gone for a 'modern-Thai' image, the design is adequate, not special. Sitting on the terrace it is hard to see out over the delightful view as the windows had handprints all over them.
There are nice ideas for food, although when you are served a dish you are meant to eat with your hands it is essential that there is a finger-bowl or towel brought with the food, not five minutes after you have finished (if indeed it even arrives, which the finger bowl I requested wasn't).
The real lowpoint though was that I went during the food festival, but the restaurant refused to stray from its normal menu - nothing special in honour of the festival.
The waiting staff seem to observe their own schedule, and the barmen think it is advisable to have more ice than cocktail in a glass.
