We went by trip advisor reviews for our first trip to Koh Samui and you can read mixed reviews and everyones tastes can be quiet different. We decided on Saree Samui for our second part of honeymoon as it was on the beach and the pool looked amazing! When we arrived we were not disappointed, it was a gorgeous sunny day and the pool/beach looked amazing to relax next too with a cocktail in our hand. We were greeted by Bar Manager Lex and he was so welcoming and nothing was to much trouble and he was always there to offer us a drink or ask us 'How we were enjoying our stay?
The Lobby staff were always so polite and would greet you with smiles. On arrival my husband and I had been in a recent scooter crash and the staff we so helpful and helped us clean his wound and then offered us lift to the pharmacy. The staff were all amazing and with the recent storm we had no phones in our room as no phone lines, but didn't effect our stay.
The rooms were cleaned daily and immaculately clean. We had room by restaurant and was no problem with noise and having no phone, as it was only a quick walk to order room service.
The bathroom was an open air shower and was lovely to shower out in open air and your room did back onto another rooms bathroom but it didnt bother us at all. The rooms had iphone docks for music or you could use the music from Reception but you are better off bringing your own music library.
The breakfast was included in our package but was a real hit/miss and we both lived on the cereal/toast as the full buffett breakfast wasn't really appealing to us both. The drinks and food is restaurant to be honest wasn't up to our standard and we found the food at Fishermans village a lot better quality and traditional Thai food. The meals at resort were expensive compared to eating out at other places. The drinks were cheaper in Boput/Chaweng and Lamai and we found the little Mart down the road sold drinks for under 50 Baht and we would buy our beer/spirits from there instead of paying double at the bar. But i must say the cocktails in happy hour went down a treat and it was nice having a chat to Lex by the pool. He was such a lovely guy and made a experience a positive one.
The shuttle bus service was quiet expensive but if you dont mind a 10min walk down to Maenam main road you can grab a Tut Tut open air taxi for 100 Baht to Fishermans and 150 Baht to Chaweng. We enjoyed the quietness of the resort and is perfect for a quiet getaway and was lovely place to relax by the pool and beach. If you are after a place without the hussle bustle like Chaweng this perfect for you, and staying at Saree Samui would not disappoint.
There is plenty other food options around Saree Samui and plenty other options for Traditional Thai food and places to eat western food.
This was an amazing honeymoon destination for us and we would highly recommend to our family/friends to stay at Saree and we cant wait to return with our young children in 18mths time.
Special Thanks to Lek and The staff for making our stay a pleasant one and a honeymoon to remember.
