“Great service in Dinning room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We on our honey moon trip, we stayed in MAI samui but first night we had a wonderful dinner at The Terrace @ The passage.
My husband said it was the most good taste of Pork Condon bleu :)
Special thanks to Chan, restaurant manager who had made our dinner under the moonlight very romantic.
P.S. My dish was great too ( salmon steak ) and for sure we will go back again :)

16 days in Thailand including the elephant nature park in north, Koh Samui in south and Bangkok central provided experience of a wide selection of accommodations. The service and facilities in Thailand are generally very good across all price points however The Passage exceeded expectations on all counts.
After a week of basic living at the Elephant Nature Park (see own review), we were ready for some pampering and The Passage did not disappoint. A new air conditioned vehicle and driver awaited our arrival at the airport for a smooth transition to the hotel. Upon arrival the greeting by several check-in staff, complete with welcome drink and cold cloth, made us feel immediately welcome. They escorted us to a gorgeous poolside villa which was perfect. Everything was new, upscale and functional. The amenities of the room anticipated all of our needs from robes and slippers to a nicely stocked mini-bar. We had private reserved loungers poolside and just steps outside our door The classic Thai villa appearance and lush view through 180 degrees of full windows surrounding the king size bed constantly reminded us we were on an island in an exotic location. The service throughout the hotel, from lobby to room to restaurant was perfect. Our needs were instantly met and many times anticipated. Chan was an awesome server in the restaurant and was our go-to-guy for anything and everything. He facilitated a boat ride for a group of us on a longtail fishing boat, which was something we requested but not offered by the hotel. The onsite spa provided the necessary pampering and upscale service for my wife while I preferred the beach-side services offered 100 feet down the beach by a local Thai masseuse and her family. I loved hearing the waves, feeling the breeze and having a cold beer at a great price. I spent many hours getting massaged, twisted, stretched and scrubbed courtesy of Alex and her daughters #1 and #2 as she referred to them. Friends me met at the resort were on beds beside us to share a few laughs (Hi Shane and Shauna). We paid an extra fee for the Loh Krathong festival dinner which was great but accompanied by a too-loud-for-dinner live singer. They provided a lesson in making our own Krathong which we lit and launched into the Gulf of Thailand to make all our bad luck vanish. They also provided candle powered hot air balloons made from tissue paper which we launched from the beach and filled the night skies from all over the island. The daily shuttle service to Chaweng and other towns close by was efficient and free. I had the best lamb chops at the onsite restaurant I've ever had. Heavily seasoned and cooked rare just as ordered. The nice cuts of Australian beef and various other menu choices also never disappointed. The pools and beachfront were always clean. The water is very shallow and clear and the white sand felt great on our feet. Just be aware of the clearly visible therefore avoidable pieces of dark coral in the water which tended to be somewhat sharp on bare feet. I walked out and visited local netting fisherman filling a floating cooler with small fish and squid from their nets. All were very approachable and friendly. It rained heavily during our stay which still didn't put a damper on our experience. This speaks volumes for the accommodation and service provided by this boutique resort.

Room Tip: Simple.....Poolside villa 301 is the best for access to everything from pools to beach to restaurant...

Over all I have been more than 10 times on Koh Samui. And this time I was so dissapointed trom the Hotel, the frist time on Koh Samui. Never happens before, that I had USED (!) slippers in my room or villa. The roof overhang from the villa is a big constructional fault: When it`s rain, this happens often in the island, the you have no chance to sit outside, incase it`s to short, so you`re not protected. Also the housekeeping wasn`t the best in the matter of cleanness. The beach you can really not truly use for swimming, the water is to flat and it`s a stony soil, this make no fun!!! For a walk it`s to short. All this you came here to Koh Samui. The area of the Hotel is in a nice shape, especially the garden and all the plants. The staff are helpful and mostly friendly. The good thing is the free shuttle bus to Nathan and Chaweng. But I would never come here again.

We just got back from 3 days/nights at The Passage in Koh Samui. We had a lovely time. We got an amazing deal through Travelzoo.com for 3 nights in a garden villa, airport-hotel transfers, 2 massages at the spa, cooking classes and breakfast for $207. It was definitely a great value. The pools are very nice; the staff is helpful and friendly. The spa is good, too. The restaurant is sadly just ok and very expensive (like 3 times a meal in town) and the nearest independent restaurant is a little bit of a hike (though not bad) down the road to Nathon (and it was an amazing little roadside place). They also have free daily shuttles to Chaweng and Nathon. The beach is nice and not crowded but small. We were there with our 2 year old and others were there with their children, and the staff and hotel were very accommodating. I guess my rec would be to get everything included in your package because otherwise paying ala cart for transfers, breakfast etc. would really add up.

We just spent a week at the Passage for our honeymoon. What an awesome place. The grounds were spotless, the rooms were very well appointed and the staff were wonderful. We upgraded to the beach villa, something I would recommend. Having your own pool was just amazing. We were picked up from the airport in a very well maintained and spotlessly clean Lexus people mover. Our check-in was effortless. We did have one hic-up with no hot water in the shower, but a quick call to reception had that sorted in a jiffy. One thing I would say though, and this has been said before by other travellers, it should be an adults only resort. There is no kids club and the location of the resort is not within walking distance of anywhere. We hired a car through the reception and it was so easy, they looked after everthing. The car was near new and in immaculate condition. Highly recommed hiring a car and taking a trip around the island.
Would definately go back.

Room Tip: Definately upgrade to the beach side villa. Well worth the extra money.

Came here on our honeymoon, and even though it's a bit away from the town, I think the location is perfect. The larger towns (such as Chaweng) on Koh Samui tend to hassle tourists. This area was much more peaceful and walking distance (about 2 miles) to the nearest town. Tata's beach bar (pretty much just a hut) and GG's Restaurant 2 doors down have great food & atmosphere (especially GG's).
