“Awesome place for romantic gate-away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012

The Passage is such a great place for a romantic gate-away. The room was so awesome, luxurious, spacious and private. The upkeep of the room is fantastic, love the bed, the cozy sofa corner, private garden view of our own and especially the bathroom was my fav! The design of the whole resort somehow gives a good relaxing feeling. Even the lobby was so inviting with nice sofa and great view of the pool, trees and beach.

The private beach is just a few steps away, however, the beach is nothing to shout about but just nice to walk along it, or do what we do, lie on the beach chair just infront of the beach to enjoy the view, cool breeze and look at the sky at night.

The pool area is great, such a nice place to sit by the pool and read a magazine while ordering your fav cocktail from the bar, nice beachfront view, and great to have a swim at the pool when you feel hot.

However, this place is a little far-off from Chaweng / Lamai / Nathon area, you need to either take a cab or the free shuttle from hotel. There are no other shops/restaurant nearby (besides the massage shop and tourguide shop opposite of the resort) so I would say it is not convenient to go to the 'tourist' area, but there is always an option to rent a bike/car so should be no problem if you do just that.

Overall, this resort is really a good place to just chill and no doubt, the room was perfect!

Stayed for 5 nights with my husband. First off the hotel transfer we had arranged through the hotel never came to collect us so after a lot of waiting in the heat we finally took a taxi instead. The hotel staff didn't seem to care when we told them.
The rooms are acceptable but are not as good as in the photos in my opinion.
You can't flush toilet paper down the toilet as the plumbing isn't very good - there is a sign asking you to place it in the bathroom bin instead. I hated the shower (and shower screen) and private garden wasn't worth even taking a photo of.
The restaurant food wasn't anything special and it's quite far out from anything so if you want a better meal you have to get a taxi elsewhere. Breakfast buffet needs improvement and a better selection.
The service at this resort needs to be improved if they are to stay in business.
On another day we had booked and paid for a transfer to pick us up after a day trip to Koh Phangan... sadly, once again we were left stranded. No apology and no refund, disappointing.
The wi-fi at this resort is slow and drops out all the time.
On the plus side, the pools were nice and cool on a hot day. The beach is unique, beautiful and quiet. There is a free shuttle which runs twice a day which saves on taxis.
All in all, I will not be staying at this hotel again.

Choosing a pool access villa was the right choice for 4 days - almost a private pool (one of 3) to ourselves & reserved seating poolside. Beach is not a feature - muddy, rocky but beautiful sunsets from the sand. This is a tranquil resort, blissful surroundings, beautiful view out to sea/islands, excellent breakfast/dinner beach side, most courteous, obliging & friendly staff, v. clean room with almost 180 degrees of glass with own patio. Come here to chill out & revitalise from the main stream - we came for my daughters wedding in Lipa Noi. Transport can be expensive if looking to hit the restaurants etc, 7/11 minimal shop opposite but lack of facilities/cost far outweighed by rural element of resort providing a sense of freedom & serenity. 'Happy hour' of 2 hours appreciated & of good quality. Definitely will return here in the future

We stayed only 2 days at the Passage and wish we could stay longer. The service is absolutely amazing - I have never seen anything like this. The rooms are beautiful and the infinity pools (yes there are more than one...) look out on the superb ocean. Free internet, books and DVDs to chose from in the lobby, loungers and palm trees make for a relaxing stay in the most beautiful setting. Rent the cheap motorbikes for a short ride to town or to the busy Chaweng beach. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation, with amazing service this is the place. I keep trying to find something negative to say and I just can't find anything.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a pool view, it's worth it.

This was a great resort that my wife and I spent 10 nights at for our honeymoon. The rooms were very nice and all we could have asked for. The staff were very friendly and always stopped to say hello. This resort is quite a distance from the main tourist track, so if you just want to do nothing but be by the pool or sit on the beach, this is your place. There was a daily shuttle to both Chaweng and Nathon which were very much appreciated as a taxi ride back to the resort will not cost less than 600 baht. Happy hour by the pool in the afternoons while the sun was setting was absolutely magical.
Overall, I think this is a great resort for romance and would not recommend it to families.

Tip of the Day: If you're interested in having a massage, my wife and I caught the shuttle to Chaweng and payed 200 baht for 1 hour instead of paying over 1500baht at the resort.

We have just completed a 5 night stay at the passage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was perfect and very clean can't fault it. Staff were attentive and friendly and always happy to help. Sunsets at happy hour by the pool bar were amazing. The grounds were immaculate. Perfect for people who want to relax and be away from the crowds. We spent days at the resort, not waiting to leave. I highly recommend going to fishermans village, 20 mins drive away. You will find a great choice of restaurants, beach bars and markets to explore. Wonderful resort for couples or honeymooners. We will return.

Room Tip: Rooms by the pool have reserved lounges by the pool. We choose a garden room and it was a set back...

We were happy with the quiet location which is a long way from any tourist area. I hink the resort suits couples who like a little quiet or families best. We didn't hire a car but did use the shuttle bus and also did an island tour and snorkelling tour on other days. we were there five nights and went out every day. We were always glad to be home each evening for sunset cocktails and laze by the pool. We ate at the restaurant each night as this was easy for us and we were happy with the variety on the menu. the garden villa was more than big enough for the two of us but we didn't spend much time there anyway. Communication at times was a little difficult and the front desk would always pass your query off to the restaurant, spa or concierge. I think they could have answered some of our queries and it would have helped us settle in better. The pool rooms did look inviting but the garden villa folk always met around the pool for a chat and a drink so you are a bit more social down near the beach area. Another small problem was I had to ask twice for toiletries which were only sparingly handed out. Because it was so hot and humid you need several showers a day and so you need toiletries!!!! All in all we had a lovely time but next time I would possibly choose a resort NOT at Chaweng or Lamai but along the north coast where there are more shops and restaurants in walking distance.
