“Touristic but nothing special and overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Probably you'll get lucky with other guide, but ours spoke english as most thai people do; but tour itself didnt contain a lot to miss. Mostly we heard about prices in restuarants on the riverbanks and it's constructon years. Also got manymany same flat jokes about 2 crocs escaped from farm on last flood, as reason of "dangerous waters" we traveled by.
Poor beasts unlikely to survive such a contaminated water more than a day, but clean waters and shores isn't that you expect on city river tour of course.
Several old photos on old carton with people and places of the past, but nothing you need to put yourself on boat.
Tour also includes stop in kind of cafe (a bit of sticky rice+sliced mango+sugar water) with tiny botanical excursion of some local fruits and flowers (dont expect smth special if you're not first day in Asia)
Can be nice for those who really dont know what to do in Chiangmai (if it's can be ever possible) and overpriced at least twice (we paid 500baht pp)

“Very expensive and stupid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Ok, thanx for the stiky rice and mango.. but 500b is TO expensive for this boring excursion.

The guide joked (very stupid jokes) all the time and laughted (idiotic unnatural laughting). He has terrible english. He told not about the river, the city, the country, the nature, the history.... (ok, a few words and pictures about the King).. no! He told about names of guesthouses and restaurants near the river... and how expensive they are!

And also you will not see any good views - dirty water, boring landscapes...

So DON'T GO!

"Free" stiky rice with mango doesn't worth it (500b.!!!! o_O )
Save your time and money!

“Fantastic Guide, excellent trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2014 via mobile

We stumbled upon this boat trip whilst visiting Chang Mai and what a very pleasant surprise. The guide was very informative and had a fantastic sense of humour making the trip very funny indeed. Whilst we were aware of the snack of Mango Sticky rice being included (which incidentally was delicious) the tour around the garden and seeing all the plants, herbs and spices growing was fascinating.

The sites along the river are a little limited but the guide brought it all to life using a number of historic pictures. Very relaxing and absolutely well worth doing whilst you are in Chang Mai.

“Nice relaxing excursion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

This is not an adventurous trip. It is however very relaxing and interesting. You will be taken down the river learning about some of the history of it and the city. Then back up-river where you'll stop to see some local herbs etc. and have a nice mango and sticky rice snack. I would do it again.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

A marvellous 90 minutes and great value for 500 baht. The guide is a very pleasant gentleman and his commentary is humourous and informative. There is not a lot to see on the stretch of the Ping River the boat travels but nonetheless it is a nice experience to be out on the water.

The fruit and herb farm visit at the end is also pleasant as is the juice and mango rice they serve.
