Booked directly with them after reviews here, for 2nd leg of honeymoon. Was pleased when saw the great decor and colours on arrival, matched with pleasant service.

Really appreciated Yai's service during booking process, recommending a room that suited our interests. Room 3 was delightful with its own private balcony, bright and airy feel with windows on 3 sides, and views to the mountains.

Though on the main road, our room was at the rear, and didn't hear a thing. But the location meant an easy walk to many sights.

Villas at the rear mentioned in previous adverts are not available any more for accommodation, as have been converted into massage and spa treatment rooms. Lovely environment for a massage.

Breakfast was ample, fresh, and pleasant, in the front outdoor feel.

Overall, we really enjoyed the small size, fresh feel, delightful service, and great location. Fantastic for the last part of our honeymoon!

We were a couple with our parents and spent the long weekend over Songkram at Duang Champa. This is a designer's hobby horse gem of a boutique hotel and a fraction of the cost of other luxury boutique hotels in the same area. This is right in the heart of the town close to restaurants and the Chedi Luang temple. What we Iiked: interesting art and design elements like the heritage tiles, access to books and DVD's, great frontage with a nice breakfast, friendly staff.
What you may not like: there was inadequate furniture i.e no cupboards to store clothes which is pesky when you spend more than 2 days, no shower curtain which makes the rest of the washroom all wet, minimal bathroom accessories like shampoos etc, the tap takes too much force to open etc and no lift- the stairs ae very high and it is a little bit of a hike to the top 4th floor. But, this is carping - we loved it and we would go there again!
When we compare this to Tamarind where we stayed last (see my other review), the great advantage is much better natural light (Tamarind was dark and small ) , asmaller throng of farang (foreign) tourists. We found this quite annoying at Tamarind as it changes the style of treatment , services , mood, breakfasts (you may as well be in Mannheim) etc. Asians may find this significant as we did.

  • Liked — bright, arty, fun
  • Disliked — No lift, too much climbing

An absolutely stunning place and would thoroughly recommend it. We stayed on the last leg of our honeymoon and it made our trip. You are perfectly positioned for sightseeing and the night market. We stayed in the villa, and it lived up to all our expectations and more. Comes highly recommended.

I have stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Relaxing atmosphere in grat locations, nothing to complain. Go to their web and see the pictures, pick the room you like. Pictures are exactly the room looks. I want to stay in there as my home.

Go to Duang Champa!

I went with a group of friends during christmas. The hotel itself is situated in the middle of the old town area of chiang mai. We arrived on a Sunday (hence the perfect location for the Sunday night market). We could hear the thai accoustic thai ballads from our balcony...sooo nice! I think the hotel is a renovated building so it has the unique feel of a boutique hotel. Each room was decorated differently but all of them exude charm. We even got to check out the larger singles in the back which would be perfect for honeymooners. I shared a double room with 2 other friends. The staff brought an extra bed in addition to the huge king bed. There was more than enough room for all of us. The room rate includes a simple breakfast every morning. The hotel does not have it's own spa yet but there's a heavenly in-room massage service (foot, oil, thai style, etc). The staff were very helpful with reccommendations for activities, must sees, etc. I would definitely stay at the Duang Champa again when I visit Chiang Mai

  • Liked — price, service, location
  • Disliked — renovated building so only stairs for access to rooms
