4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

This hotel is great for many reasons. The front desk service was excellent, welcoming and very professional. The location was perfect; close to many attractions around Chiang Mai especially the Sunday market. The room was comfortable and clean but when it rained, water came through the windows... no big deal though. I had a view of the Temple beside the hotel and it was beautiful.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Chiang Mai.

We stayed 3 nights at the Parasol Inn and recommend this hotel.
We liked:
- Location: try to go to Chiang Mai on a week-end. There are some great night markets on Saturday and Sunday. Parasol Inn is located in the middle of Sunday Market Street; so if you like street food, you will just have to go downstairs for a good mango sticky rice.
- Service: very friendly staff. The ladies at the lobby are very friendly and provided great advices on dinner and massage places.
- Excursions: We recommend you go to the Kentoke dinner and the cooking class. Awesome and affordable. Don't forget to negotiate with a smile!
- Restaurant: nice terrace to have your breakfast

We would have liked:
- A less kitsch decoration and some windows in our first room. The good thing is that we could change room without any problem.

Note that there is no elevator.

Thanks for a great stay!

This was the third time we have stayed at this hotel and again it proved to be excellent. On arriving we had a problem with the air conditioner in our room however Nim quickly sorted out the problem and had our room changed. For anyone wanting to stay in Chaing Mai the location is perfect for site seeing and it is also located in the heart of the famous Sunday walking street market. Breakfast at the hotel has improved from our last visit and is now buffet style. We have a high regard for Nim and her staff who again proved to be friendly, helpful and efficient making our stay again very enjoyable.

With only two days in Chaing Mai, this was exactly the hotel we were looking for. It is in the absolute best location for seeing local Wats and it's not very expensive. The hotel was clean, included breakfast was good, and staff was extremely helpful with our questions about local transportation.

The only (small) complaint was that we visited during the absolute hottest time of year and every time we left the room they turned our AC off! Pro tip: hide the remote to the AC somewhere sneaky.

Room Tip: No elevator, pick a room low to ground if you have lots of luggage!

We didn't stay here but we ate at the cafe every day. Their shrimp spring rolls are excellent. We enjoyed their lemon smoothies too - very refreshing. You can sit on the verandah area and watch the world pass by. Very friendly staff who made our visits extra pleasant. They had to deal with two extremely rude French toursts one time we were there. They were so polite to the rude man and his equally rude female companion. We felt so embarassed for them having to deal with tourists like that. Thais are so consistently polite, even to those who don't deserve it. Recommended for a meal or refreshments. The prices are good and the food is fresh.

Very kindly staff, available for all questions about the city or tour guide, everybody speaks a very good english. They helped us to book our trip in Chiang Mai with good advices to do most activities in less time. Room comfortable and clean. The location is really well-placed, near different markets and next to the three best temples. There is the public bus stop from the airport just nearby.
They also allowed us to take a shower after cheking out before taking the plane - so kind, although after a day with elephants !!!!
We highly recommand this hotel.

Room Tip: No elevator but just 3 floors.

The hotel is located right in the centre of the walled city, adjacent to one of the numerous temples, on the junction of two quite busy roads. Check in process was quick, the receptionists friendly. The room was quite large with "an elephant theme". The huge downside was that the room didn't have any daylight: the only window in the room led to the bathroom... which had another window but only 20cm away from another building. Bathroom was basic with shower, pan and basin. Bear that in mind when you book the room, however the rooms on the opposite side of the hall had large windows looking to the road. There was complimentary drinking water in the room and wifi (they seem to have ongoing problem with it). Breakfast was very basic and the same food every day (egg, toast, juice, tea/coffee). Hotel do the affordable laundry service (quite useful after mountain cycling in mud) and you find your clothes neatly folded. On checking out the receptionist walked us outside and hailed the tuk tuk for us (nice gesture).
We will not be coming back to the hotel.
