The resort is a beautiful old tobacco farm with cute rooms, amazing touches (lotus ponds), a beautiful pool, and just spectacular grounds. Despite all of this, we had a lousy stay. The roofs are tin...neat until it starts pouring rain or monkeys run across it all night long. Then it is just so loud that earplugs couldn't cut it. One night, one of the resort workers decided to have a fun little party at the expense of every guest. Until three a.m., extremely loud music was played. Although the front desk said that they would take care of it, we gave up after ten requests. Breakfast was just plain disgusting. The toast was the only edible part. It was a weak attempt at Western food. I would have prefered if they had a fabulous Thai-style breakfast. We couldn't even identify things on our plate (sausage and eggs amazingly). Nothing is worse than terrible food. Our tour guide, the top guide in the country (as awarded by the King) didn't even know where the resort was. When trying to get there from the airport, the taxi driver had to call the resort to find out where they were as he had never heard of them. It would have been nice if they offered airport service.
The actual city of Chiang Mai is about 45 mintues away and the resort offers no option for transportation. We were told that we could go wait on the other side of the street and a truck would come by sporadically to transport people. Hop in the back of that and your good. We waited for an hour only to breathe diesel for the next 45 minutes.
The beautiful rooms and property do not make up for the absence of service.

Our wedding ceremony was on April3. We had 2 kinds of the ceremony. The frist, we set it under the big tree near the pool for the traditional Thai Lanna and the second one we set it around the pool for the night party. We had a great time. Everything was so perfect and food are so delicious.......Thank you so much

If you're looking for a place to chill out then this is the place for you. Lots of trees, fine swimming pool and large gardens to wander around. If however you want to go out and about we would recommend a hire car. It is possible to use taxis but you will find it expensive as it is 45 mins to Chiang Mai and a good hour to Doi Inthanon. Food is good and reasonably priced.

It's one of the nicest hotels I've been to. What I love about Kaomai Lanna is that it's green everywhere. I felt so relaxed and peaceful. It's not just a nicely decorated boutique hotel or resort that are plenty in Chiangmai. I went there with my family and all of us loved it!
