“very nice setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

very nice hotel near the river
rooms are very
good, nice bathroom
very nice pool with rivervieuw and restaurant
if you look for a relaxing place you are at the right place
a bit out of center , count on 200bht for a tuktuk to town, so if you want to spent a lot of time in the center its not your first choice

We stayed here for two nights. It's a very lovely location on the river but is a taxi ride into the city. There are two free shuttles into the city every day but you have to get yourself back - about 150 -200 baht. The breakfast was good but the service was pretty non existent and it lacks atmosphere. There are areas that require attention; our bathroom had some mold on the walls and ceiling and the lanterns down to the river were tattered. We were sat peacefully by the river (the only iguests sat there) reading and chatting and suddenly the staff put on a cd which was really loud - I had to ask for it to be turned down as I couldn't hear myself think; it completely ruined the peace of the place. This happened both days we were there.

Room Tip: Choose a river view room as the pond/garden view does get traffic notice and the music they play all...

A quiet retreat outside the city. Lovely grounds, spacious rooms, friendly staff, and good food.

We booked a Deluxe Room and requested to have a view of the river. When we arrived they upgraded our room to a Superior Room upstairs and we had a lovely view of the pool and river below. Clean sheets and towels. They also have free wi-if and you're given two bottles of water a day. If needed there is also laundry service provided for a fee.

There are two shuttles they travel to the city: one at 10:30am and one at 6:00pm. The shuttle in the morning typically drops off at the Ta Phae Old City Gate and the one in the evening drops most off at the Night Bazaar. (You can pay an additional 50baht to be dropped off at a different location on the way into town, like Nimahemmin Road or Riverside.)

Breakfast is nice. A combination of a buffet and a few items to order.

It's a little ways north of town, but that didn't really both us much. Overall it's just a really quiet, pleasant place. If we're ever back in Chiang Mai, we'll almost definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get an upstairs room with view of the river.

Great place, clean and tidy, quiet location, nice and refreshing pool, hospitable personnel.
Ask for a room with the view towards the river. The view is perfect and the pool facilities are adequate.

It is perfect to escape the busy Chiang Mai, yet enjoy all it has to offer within a 15 min ride (2 free shuttle rides to the center per day). Definetly a place to return if back in Chiang Mai.

Arriving at Lanna Mantra after some days in buzzing Bangkok is simply a relief. The place is so quiet, the garden just beautiful!
The pool is not well kept, but the effort is appreciated.
Breakfast is very decent and usually included in the rate. Hire a scooter or negotiate with the tuk tuk drivers, and the ride to/from town will not be too much of a trouble.
The rooms are huge and all have a balcony.
Plus: the "house cat" is just adorable!

This hotel was very peaceful, quiet and a quick getaway from the busy city centre. The staff was incredibly professional and accomodating. It is considered "far" from the city, however, there is a free shuttle twice a day. Perfect for couples and those who like to escape the heat by going for a swim! Never felt I was missing anything. The place has charm!

Room Tip: The standard room is enough. The view and location of the garden room is plenty pretty compared to t...

I've joined tripadvisor to write this review! I'll start with the only thing that may put you off. It's a little out of town. About a 15 minute drive. HOWEVER! The hotel provides two shuttles a day. One at 10:30am and one at 6:00pm. You've got to get yourself back again but it's only 150 Baht. Also, for us, part of the appeal of the place is that it's tucked away in it's own little corner by the river.

The room was beautiful, clean and tidied everyday. The view was fantastic and you feel as though you're the only ones there. The pool is amazing. It's so quiet and you can order drinks to the pool or river side.

The staff are friendly and efficient. The Breakfast was simple but is included in the price so I cannot complain. The wifi is available everywhere. The soap in the room is tied up in string! Every detail is considered.

We spent my birthday there and at 25, it was the best birthday I've ever had!!! The shuttle in the morning allows you to spend the whole day getting lost in Chiang Mai.

Anniversary, birthday or just to treat yourself, Lanna Mantra is a must!

Room Tip: Ask for a river view room when you book. Best view and quietest.
