We had a terrific stay at the Seven Suns. The hotel staff, especially the owner, are friendly and very helpful. The owner was a huge help in recommending restaurants, cooking classes, where and when to shop, temples etc.
After a day of touring the city, it was great to come back to a nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable room.

We stayed for a few nights at the 7 Suns last December, and having seen what else there is on offer, wish we had stayed elsewhere.

The Guest House itself is clean and the staff reasonably friendly. The location was for us the best part - away from the noise of the Night Market and in the peace of the Old City, in the "real" Chiang Mai. Ratchadammoen Road is close by and some good, cheap restaurants available there - try the Brick Road Cafe for breakfast. The rooms were "quirky" if one's taste is badly painted interior decoration, small and the furniture distinctly tired. Food was expensive for what it was and we ate elsewhere. The fact that at the rate we paid breakfast was not included was surprising.

Chiang Mai is full of Guest Houses. There's nothing wrong with the Seven Suns, but nothing particularly to commend it either. As regular visitors to CM, sorry, but we won't be going back.

Management response from kreeChiangMai, owner
(Management representative)
Jul 20, 2008
Hi Tanapat,
Sorry that Seven Suns was not more to your taste! Our room themes are not for everyone, but most people find them fun and a change from the usual. What a great diversity we live in with the global community, it would be pretty boring if we were all the same now? Funny most people think our food is too cheap compared with other local fare, guess we are all different. Hope you continue to enjoy Chiang Mai and all it has to offer.

Stayed in the Just Because room for one week last April.

Booked everything directly with the very friendly and helpful Kerry through e-mail.

The guesthouse is located within the city walls, on a quiet street close to some temples, and within a walking distance to the Night Bazaar, and very close to the Sunday Market.

The room was spacious, very clean, with air cond, tv, and mini bar. The bathroom although small was ok.

There are some good restaurants nearby, including the seven suns restaurant in the entrance, with great food with good prices.

Kerry helped us a lot booking a hilltribe trekking and by booking a full day tuk-tuk service so we could go visit lots of handicraft factories and stores.

The hotel staff are all great but i can't thank Kerry enough.

This guesthouse is a very smart choice regarding the quality/price ratio.

Do recommend.

My husband and I stayed at the Seven Suns Guesthouse for a week during our honeymoon trip to Thailand. We absolutely loved everything about this guest house! The staff was very friendly, spoke very good english and was very very helpful. The owner, Kerry, is from Australia and so speaks fluent english of course! She and everyone at the guesthouse helped us to find more local places to visit as well as assisted us with arranging sightseeing with groups. They had honest information and opinions about everything.

The room was very nice and clean and a very good size for the price of this guesthouse! Each room is themed which gives each room a nice uniqueness. There is a tv with satellite in each room, but if you get bored there is a VCR and a DVD played you can borrow and a small collection of movies. Kerry even brought some from home for us!

The guesthouse is located in the lovely Old City of Chiang Mai, and I would not have wanted to stay anywhere else. It is on a quiet road but just minutes away from the Thae Pae gate area (sorry I know I spelled that wrong) and steps away from the famous (and very very good) Sunday market. (Not touristy like the horrible Night Bazaar).

I will certaily stay here again if we ever make it back to Chiang Mai!!!!

Thank you again for everything!!!

I stayed at Seven Suns in November of 2007 (about 4 months ago) and have been meaning to write a review ever since - lazy me. I apologize to all the really fine and decent folks who work there for not having written sooner.

When i had booked on-line with Kerry (the owner) she had advised that cabs from the airport were available and what the rate would be. As it turned out - I arrived (from New York via bangkok) on a rainy night and since she realized that a cab might be a problem at the rate she had thought it would be on such a night ---- she took it upon herself to come out to the airport, meet me, and see me safely back to the hotel. Talk about great first impressions --- I rarely get that kind of service or concern from hotels costing considerably more than Seven Suns!

I'm a gay man and was looking for a "gay" hotel. I'm not sure i'd call the Seven Suns a gay hotel but what I found was a very friendly hotel. Every one I encountered on the staff seemed to feel it was there job to make me feel comfortable and I did. Kerry, Michael and all the staff members were just great.

The hotel was conveniently located. The acomodations were simple. The bathroom and shower adequate. It ain't the Ritz but in its class of hotel it is way up on the top of the list. The bed was comfortable. I found the room to be clean and it was kept that way by the staff for the week that I was there. I was particularly impressed by the tautness of the sheet on the top of my bed after it had been made each day - I could bounce a quarter off of it!!! I have no idea why that sticks in my mind but it does.

I felt safe and never felt threatened any time of the day or evening that I went out and about. I had no trouble getting to anywhere either by walking - which I enjoy - or by "tuk-tuk."

I would stay there again without a doubt. It's greatest asset was its kind, caring, accomodating, and competent staff led by its "stand out" owner Kerry! Thanks to you all for making my week in Chaing Mai a memorable one.

  • Disliked — I didn't find anything really wrong with the place. I guess if i had been on an upper floor the walk up the stairs might have been a problem
