“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2006

This hotel is well located, the rooms are a good size, well equipped & beautifully decorated. We took the highest of the three room categories at THB 1700 including breakfast. These rooms are recently refurbished in a traditional & attractive manner.Good bathroom, pleasant balcony & spacious.Everything worked well, room service was very reasonable, laundry was efficient.Internet access in lobby 24 hrs.Pool is clean if a little tight for surrounding space. The restauarnt served a better club sandwich than the Oriental in Bangkok that we had just left for 10% of the price !! We checked in here at a taxi driver's recomendation having left the River Ping Palace because of the dreadful state of the rooms & were extremely pleased with the Chiang mai gate in comparison. For the same rate this hotel offers excellent value for money in this lovely city.

The hotel looked nice from the outside and the lobby was fine. Our room was run down and on the lower side of average. They are renovating parts of the hotel so it may improve soon. The restaurant really caters to westerners and the breakfast offered was weak. Most of their business appeared to be tour groups and the place is good for that type of business. For single or independent travelers I would definitely stay somewhere else. Not much personality. More like a bit run down holiday inn.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2005

I booked a package tour from Bangkok, and had no idea what kind of hotel I would be staying in. When I arrived at the hotel, I was bowled over by how nice it was from outside, so I couldn't wait to see my bedroom, and facilities.

The staff were friendly and polite, and when I got to my room, I was hugely suprised. Very clean and looked after. Comfortable and simple.

The buffet breakfast wasn't the best, but it was ok. The pool a bit small, and full. Lots of families.

They also provide a mini-van service to the night bazaar around 8.30pm evernight, which is very handy, as the walk there is ok for those who wish to walk, but maybe not so for kids.

The laundry serivice is good and cheap, and most places are within walking distance fom the hotel. Well recomended.
